what are the measurements of each stone?
I''ll wait for RoadChe but if I had to guess by the info provided the wf one is 8.2mm by 6.2mm and the other is 8.7mm by 6.1mm (this one is posted).

That''s right.

Angara is: 8.72 x 6.10
WF is: 8.27 x 6.4

The discount on a medium blue fluorescent F/VS stone is usually none to -2%.
Thanks Rich, I didn't think there was a significant discount.

RC, Storm's suggestion of an independant appraisal on the cheaper stone is a good one.

New piece of information just came in!

Angara stone has:

Crown Height of 14.30%
32 facets on the bottom

Earlier in the post, there was some warning of 4 breaks being an issue, but then there was argument against it. Anyone have thoughts on how the crown height and bottom-side facet count might impact my decision?

14.3% is way kewl
There are no issues with the 4 step pavilion when it is done well.
The new information would make me even more interested in having it checked out by Richard, Neil, Jeff or Dave.

Karl,

Thanks again for your feedback.

welcome

Do I have to order the diamond loose to get it appraised or can I get it set in a basic ring?

loose is what I would do.

All,

Here are additional pictures of the Angara stone. Any concerns with the "blue sheet" when looking at a backside angle against a dark background?

Thanks again for everything.

First off, thanks for all of your help on this post and my other:

I ended up going with the 2.21 F VS1 emerald cut from Angara. It arrived Tuesday afternoon right on time and looked beautiful- since we had other packages coming in for the holidays, my gf (at the time) almost picked up this package by accident! The customer service received at Angara was amazing- my constant emails, phone calls, and even text messages, were answered timely and thoroughly, and my custom requests for additional pictures were well received and turned-around promptly.

I proposed Tuesday evening at the place my fiancee and I first met (we met on a dirt path walking on the way to the subway station and happened to strike up conversation from there, all the way on the subway until we got off at the same stop downtown), and she said yes.

The stone looks BEAUTIFUL, and the next step is to get the independent appraisal and have her choose a new setting for it (I got just the very basic initially). Since I saved a good amount going with the Angara stone, we will have a bit more budget on the setting! I''m sure I will be reaching out to the forums again. In the meantime, thanks again Pricescopers.
