Connoisseur Sale

Sigh, woke up to new items but with all the ones that I love gone, AND no email from PP re my purchases n pending items (still waiting for my double sold pearl replacement). Not a good start to the weekend. ;(

Edit: Argh I sound so whiny. In my defense I've been waiting for the options for the double sold circled pearl since Tue. :? Plus I'm really excited about the doll. Waiting is so hard. Fellow pearl lovers understand my pain right?

Cmd: Happy anniversary!

Pencil case: welcome! Did u get a loose pearl earlier?

I thought the carved pendants were pretty, but it was hard to tell scale without a bust shot. Someone must have been really on top of things, because I was checking regularly who eat work and in the half hour or so it took me to get home, new things had been up and gone. Those fireball pendants looked awesome. I'm hoping someone here got them.

Icy Jade I feel your pain. Waiting is hard!

Shoot! I missed them too. I know they have many more lovely things either in the works or done and ready to be sprinkled out. I saw some of them on designer John's work bench when I was there in July.

Oh I didn't realise that they added new items till I saw this thread. I thought they only add every Tuesday? I missed the new listings ;(

In the previous 2 sales the schedule was every Tuesday, around 11 am - noon central time (so 9- 10 am Pacific time). This time they are randomly adding things every few days. I haven't noticed a pattern around time of day. The last add would have been Friday around 4 - 5ish central time.

(Arg...I seem to be a victim of spell correct in an odd way today)

Darn, I'm late to the new sale items!

I can't wait to see everyone's new treasures and welcome pencil case!

Shoot! I'm playing tag with FedEx! They called me at 8:30 this morning, but I was too slow to get the phone before my machine picked up. I called them back right away, but they said, no, there's no package for you. So I went out for an hour, and by the time I got home I had missed their delivery attempt, and now I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to pick up my things. Grrrr! :wall: :angryfire:

I'm super excited to see everything though. I should be getting my replacement metallic strand, my new tahitian strand, the encircled earrings, and one of the two loose pearls set in the YG diamond dew pendant. So a haul!

Chenai also emailed to let me know that she'll get back to me soon with an estimate for the enhancer setting for the other pearl. Yay!

Oh those evil FedEx-ers....don't they know that they're holding up a beautiful parade of pearls!!!!??? :naughty: :naughty: I commiserate with you. For whatever reason, FedEx decided to ship my pearls from PP in Cal to Tenn before returning back to Cal where I live. Makes no sense for the pearls to visit Tenn.

that's really cruel of Fed Ex to be taunting you both like that- - the anticipation builds!.........although, Mapo I would not have minded tagging along on pearl's journey ..Tennessee would be DH's idea of pearl anniversary heaven -visit Nashville and the Ryman, trip to Memphis and Sun Studios. He loves his music. Anyone think of anything pearl/music related as a gift (NOT another guitar with pearl inlay though....)
Will you sleep tonight ??

Mapo - FedEx has their sort center in Memphis. Packages fly to Memphis then get reloaded to their destination.

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks Flygirl.

Guys, how are loose drop pearls measured? I had assumed (or maybe read somewhere) that they are measured around the round end, and not end to end including the drop. But I did actually end up getting my fedex package today, and I was surprised and disappointed by the size of my loose "special" pearl. It was described as 10.3 mm which is slightly larger than my existing pendant (as seen on the show me your pearls thread) which is just a smidge under 10. So I thought it would make a nice sized pendant for everyday wear. Not a statement piece, but a pretty drop pendant with a uber lustrous pearl. But it's tiny! To the best that I'm able to measure, it's only 8mm around the round part, and only reaches 10ish if you flip it to include the pointed drop. The pearl itself is very pretty, but it's way too delicate to be a pendant IMO. So I'm not sure what to do as it's not returnable once drilled. I guess maybe chalk it up to lesson learned.

I'm just glad that I haven't gotten my other one set yet! It was described as 10.7mm, and the enhancer that I loved had an 11mm pearl, so I thought it was a good fit for this plan....but now I'm thinking not so much.

Ok...maybe I'm overstating it a bit. It is smaller than I expected, but it's also very pretty. Here's a picture.

Actually seeing the picture makes me think that it's really NOT that tiny. Still not substantial enough for an enhancer though. Edit: that I was thinking of doing with the other similarly sized pearl.

I received my ombre earrings and they hurt my ears. The pearls are pretty and I thought about replacing the leverback component for a thinner gauge but decided to just return it. Ah well.

I have to admit that I'm thinking of returning my earrings too. They aren't as lustrous/colourful as I hoped. Maybe they'll look different tomorrow.

Here's the shot:

makeable, wait -- they hurt your ears?! Pictures before returning, please!!!

cmd --definitely wait!!! I have many a time felt the same way the first night only to fall in love the next day. They'll look different tomorrow AND your expectations will meld with the reality of what's before you.

bsomio I don't wear earrings much and the wire is too thick. I'll post pics tomorrow since the sun is just about gone.

cmd I would also wait. You may feel a bit differently about them tomorrow.

CMD, I love the T pendant with the dew drop diamond setting. It's gorgeous!

I'm going to wait. Here are some ear shots. I'm actually finding them quite heavy.

Edited just to un-rotate photo....and for spelling.

Thanks...I was just really surprised at first by its size....it's definitely sub 10mm in width...more like 8.5 - 9, tops. Here it is in the box. It is the prettiest shade of green.

Thanks for posting another picture. The yellow gold setting really brings out the green in your pendant.

I thought so too. At first I went with WG because that's what I wear the most, but changed my mind when I started thinking about how green this one was. I think it was the right choice for sure. What's also a bit cool is that it's long enough that when I look down I can see flashes of it as I wear it.

cmd- Pearls are measured perpendicular to the drill hole at the widest spot. So it should be the width of your pearl.

cmd - it's very hard to measure accurately without callipers.

Hmmm, then mine is definitely smaller than described. It's disappointing, but it's still a very pretty pendant, and very well priced. I'd pay at least twice or more locally for a much lesser quality pearl.

The earrings are too heavy...my earlobes are complaining after 30 minutes, and one of the wires pokes me in the neck. It's sad, but I think they will have to go back. I don't see being able to wear them to work. :((

True...but I have accurate specs from my appraisal certificate for my existing pendant (it is just shy of 10mm) and it is visibly larger than my new one. It's what I judged my purchase on. I can ask to borrow DH's calipers when he gets home next week, but I'm not sure it's worth risking scratching my pearl (he's an engineer so his are not designed for delicate surfaces). It's ok, because in the end it was not very expensive, it's just surprising.

cmd -- if they're too heavy, they're too heavy. But just for future reference, the ear wires are very easily bendable. I usually bend mine to close them up, to make the "U" on shepherd's hooks narrower.

Oh CMD,
I am so sad you aren't loving the earrings. I think they look divine on you.

But, if they don't work for you, I am sure there will be something come along that will :)

Cmd- You can squeeze in the hooks a bit so they aren't so wide. I had to do that with my little h WSS keshi pair. But I'm sympathetic to heavy pearls. I can't wear them either.

Also, your new pendant might look nice worn with a couple of your new stands attached together to make a rope.

Great minds and all. I see bsomlo was posting at the same time.
