Hello, it’s been a minute! I am considering upgrading my Whiteflash studs. They’re each .6ct F VS2, about 5.5mm. Lovely quality but I want size, especially since they’re on my ear and I won’t be staring at them like I would an e-ring.

I am considering a pair of 1.1 K SI1 stones, about 6.67mm each or a 1.3 J SI1 stone, about 7mm. I have been wearing light sapphire studs and am used to 6mm on my ear. I’ve worn diamonds from D-K and right now have the itch for a BIG visual difference!

I have a 5k budget so I can either upgrade to the 1.1 K SI1 pair now or upgrade one earring to 1.3 J SI1 and put a CZ in the other ear until I can upgrade the other one later this year. I am restless and want to do an upgrade now haha.

Do you think I should upgrade both earrings to the 1.1 tcw K SI1s or upgrade one to 1.3 J SI1 and put a CZ in the other until I can upgrade to the second stud later this year? This is supposed to be a fun, transition upgrade and g-d willing, not my final one. Thank you, Whiteflash customer service and upgrade policy!

Also, are 4 prongs still secure at this size point? At what size does 6 prongs become advisable? Thanks!

Or I could bezel the 1.1K SI studs :D

I know white gold/platinum bezel could make the stone look bigger but I've always been intrigued with a thin yellow gold bezel. I wonder how it would look with the 1.1ct/2.2 ctw K stones. :kiss2:

I vote the 1.1 pair. You can trade in the pair as easy as you can a single stone and at least you'd have a pair. I like the size and color of the J but waiting to find a match could be awhile! Have you talked to your salesperson at WF about anything else new coming in? Maybe they have something on the way that would work.

Idk I think the most important thing is if
You’ll be happy with either of those sizes. If you just like 7mm don’t spend the money on 6.6mm.

And girl lemme tell you I am deep into setting. I like a 3 but that worries to much. I think 4 is fine at the size you’re considering if you like the look. I think less metal the better.

Hi MGR! It’s good to see you and @mrs-b on PS! Thanks for the input. I agree that the 1.1 K SI1 is a more pragmatic choice.

Do you think a thin yellow gold bezel would make the stones look even warmer and smaller?

I agree but one must wait to upgrade both ears to 7mm. Thanks to WF’s upgrade policy, I can take baby steps hehe. Nonetheless, I am considering the cost of new settings, shipping, etc.

I get that. I’m not exactly the same way when I wear studs that feel small I just feel like I’m left unsatisfied. Rather not wear them cs wear some that feel small

Yes, I get it. 1.1ct on each would be the biggest studs I’ve worn to date so it would be a fine step forwards. Although 7mm would be fabulous, we do want it all >:B

I am still greatly amused by the title of your post--my husband should be very very concerned.............

(PS--I meant upgrading from my stud of a husband to a new one...)

There is a 1.29ct J VVS2 but it’s out of budget. My upgrade budget is $5k and my current stones are around $2800 each. Definitely prefer the J tho, almost don’t want it to get away!

Do you think gold bezeling that 1.3ct would be too much? Would be very pretty in classic prongs.

What did they say about the possibility of getting more stones in? Any time frame or they don’t know?

I hadn’t asked. At any rate, I would wait at least 6 mo before upgrading the other one to a similar size anyway.

My eye goes straight to the 1.3 - let’s not mess around, haha. I know I will want to upgrade the 1.1 later but may be good with 1.3 for a while.

Picturing myself with the 1.3 stud in the usually exposed ear due to hair part and a cz in the other ear that gets covered more.

Haha - that is quite the plan! 1.1 would be a size difference from the .6 that you currently have but I know you hate to pay for settings only to upgrade again and have to buy more. I would be interested to see if and when they hope to get more in to choose from at this point.

Exactly and I’ve been wearing 6mm non-Diamond studs lately and am used to seeing that diameter in my ear. (I think my .6ct is around 5.5mm).

The setting cost is definitely a factor especially since I opt for platinum 4-prongs with pousette backs, which run around $400-$500. The bezels are similarly priced.

Well, if you can’t make as large a jump now as you would like, the setting cost is the collateral damage I guess. They may offer you something to buy back the platinum settings for the metal.

Well, if you are going to cover the CZ with hair so as to allow yourself to wear two earrings with one of them being the J… why not get the I, too? If you are willing to wear diamond + CZ then may as well wear two diamonds that, while not perfectly matched, are probably closer than diamond + CZ. That and the fact that you are posting here and not in LGD indicates that you might not be happy wearing a CZ. Just a thought.

What I are you referring to?

I'm, perhaps overly, practical and would go for the K's now with the hope of upgrading later. I wouldn't want one CZ earring, hidden or not. And what if things change and you can't replace the CZ in the future? I have small stones, one an ACA, the other not an ACA but almost exactly matching dimensions, that are K colored in YG bezels. They are .55 ct each and about 5.3 mm so much smaller than your K's would be, but here is a photo so you can see K color in YG bezels.

Soo beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Another thing I’m considering is whether the gold bezels would look better on the 1.1 Ks than the 1.3. I feel like the 1.3 is going to be big and will show best and most versatile in a basket prong. I ran into gold bezel earring jackets that could also be an option!

My current pendant, a rose gold bezel. I think it’s .4ct H SI1.61693BA8-93E0-483C-B29C-C00C9BC119C7.jpeg
