could you suggest me around a carat round ideal cut brilliant diamond? My budget is around $6000. Thanks.

or this one...

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.116-j-si1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104062571015

or these:

this could be a great deal because that inclusion could totally be hidden by a prong! If you like any of these from James Allen, you should put them on hold, and ask what discount they're giving on them (JA gives PS members discounts on diamonds). This stone already has the idealscope image:

this one would also be great because it faces up really white and it's AGS ideal...

You should get out to jewelry stores to discover your preferences of the color and clarity grades, and their effect on price.

I could place two identically well-cut diamonds of the same weight side by side and they'd look identical to the naked eyes of 95% of the population even though one is 5 times the price of the other.
Color and clarity has that much effect on price.
Here's an example of two round Signature Ideal cuts from Bluenile.
They'll look similar if not identical to many people but one is $6446 and the other $32,559.
Again the ONLY difference is color and clarity grades.

If I suggested diamonds now I'd be imposing my preferences on you, and not that many people want to pay for E or F VVS stones which is my comfort zone.

People vary, so I recommend you discover the color and clarity grades that suit you.
One person may be perfectly happy with a color grade of I, J, K or lower, while another person may not be able to tolerate the color they can see in an F.
Of those who prefer to pick a diamond with more color, they may not detect the color, or they do detect it and actually prefer it to a more colorless diamond (lucky them because what they prefer is more affordable) , or detect it and don't like it but they tolerate the color because it lowers the cost.
It is very personal, and very important to the selection and a lifetime of happiness with your diamond.

FWIW, a lot of people settle on color of G or H and clarity that is eye-clean and near VS2 or SI1, but that doesn't mean you will.
If you are in a hurry, and take comfort in being in a large group, or don't want to bother learning just pick something in this range.

BTW, only look at diamonds graded by GIA or AGS.
Other labs lie about grades so their diamonds APPEAR to be a better deal. :knockout:
Astonishing, disgusting, but true. :nono:

Have you seen lower colored stones ritas? Some people are particularly color sensitive and any hint of color will not appeal to them, others see it and don't mind it and others prefer it. Same with clarity, as Kenny mentioned so people need 'mind clean' stones, and others are fine with inclusions as long as they don't see them and some find 'freckles' charming. How you feel about each of these will greatly affect the price. Many people here consider G/H VS2 and SI1 the best value since you will be getting a very white stone and eye clean stone, but some others are willing to give up a bit more color and/or clarity to get additional size. Which aspect is most important to you? Size? Color? clarity? A combination?

This one is a bit deeper than we would ordinarily recommend, but I love the tiny table and high crown and would be willing to give up a bit of diameter for all the fireworks!

All of these would need to be checked by their gemologist to see if they are eye clean and you would need to request IS images.

Wow!!! Ritas, if fire is what you're focused on this stone has it in spades!! Wow!! Given your old stones lack of sparkle this might be the ticket...

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Wow, too many choices.

Christina, what is a draw back of being bit deep? Also what is a IS image?

04diamond<3, I like your choices too. But not sure how the j color will be. I couldn't make out any difference in the james allen pictures.

Re: could you suggest me around a carat round ideal cut diam

Typically we suggest keeping the depth of the stone less than 62.3, in this case the depth is 62.5, so just slightly deeper. If the stone is cut too deep then weight is hidden where you can't see it and the stone appears a bit smaller than if it was cut too more ideal standards. A well cut 1ct stone should be about 6.4-6.5mm, this stone is 1.07 and is facing up about 6.55 or so. So, it's not making a huge impact on it's face up size and will still look larger than most 1ct stones with non ideal proportions.

ETA the 1.06 stone that 04diamonds posted is actually facing up a wee bit smaller than the 1.07 so I don't think that you would really be giving up much face up size. I also just wanted to mention that JA offers a slight discount to PS members, roughtly 1.5%, so be sure to mention that you are a member if you decide to request images.

Oh, and Idealscope images are a reflector technology that help determine how the stone will perform IRL, for example we will be able to see if the stone has any leakage areas which would affect how the stone reflects the light to the viewer.

James Allen will evaluate three stones for you for free and supply IS for them. I would choose the three that you are most interested in and ask their gemologist to review them for you and make a recommendation.

the 1.06 actually faces up pretty white and you can ask the on staff gemologist about the color. an IS image is the idealscope image, which this stone already has. AGS ideal stones that are true hearts and arrows stones all have the idealscope image attached:

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.06-carat-J-color-SI1-clarity-Ideal-cut-sku-107905

it's the red circle that shows the arrows...which on this stone looks beautiful!
