I have wavy hair that is rather limp & stringy. In looking for things to do with it I ran across Ouidad. http://www.ouidad.com/Default.asp I have tried some of the products and they do seem to help, but what really interests me is the CARVE & SLICE haircut. I''m going to be in Phoenix next spring and there is a salon that does the Carve & Slice cut there. It''s $100 for the cut which is really high to me.

Anyone have any experience with Ouidad or the Carve & Slice cuts?

Okay, TELL ME what you''re using! I''m getting really desperate...the dry air is making my curls (er, waves that typically curl very nicely when provoked) into a limp mess - half of it curls the other half hangs.

AND...if you do the haircut, PLEASE post pics! Not that I think there''s anything like that around here, but I am soooo intrigued! I''m thinking my last cut at a better salon was around $50, so while $100 is definitely steep by my midwestern standards, I''m not sure it''s entirely ridiculous.

Ooooh do post what you decide to do!

I have an aunt with EXTREMELY curly hair. She got a cut similar to the carve and slice in a high-end salon in Dallas. It''s beautiful. She doesn''t have to do much with it, and the curls actually stay defined and springy. I know she paid over $200 for her cut. Now, she has her normal salon cut it two or three times and then goes back to the fancy guy to get it back in the right shape once it''s lost a bit of the style.

If you do get the cut then we definitely need before and after pics! I have the same problems with mine...

Hi! I have super curly hair & I believe that just like diamonds, cut is king!

$100 is well worth it!
I have never had this particular haircut so I can''t advise, however, I know that when my hair is cut well, the curls look so much better.

I have heard a couple of people who have used Ouidad have had really great results. I am looking forward to trying it sometime but it just seems so hard to come across.

Right now I am using Graham Webb - Making Waves, Shampoo, Conditioner & Gel and it is pretty fantastic. I recommended it to a colleague and she loves it as well.

It seems to be less expensive than Ouidad products and effective ... Until I can get my little paws on some Ouidad, I will persist with this stuff.

Please do let me know how it turns out if you get your hair cut.

Ouidad is freaking delicious. I swear by it. I''ve used it on my hair when it is naturally curly (i''m half black, a quarter dutch and a quarter polynesian) and when i''ve chemically straightened it as a teenager in high school (it only relaxes the curls. it''s never naturally straight or even wavy). It makes my curls perfect. Every single time. and yes. . . cut is key. Right now I have a great bob that is good for curly or when I blow dry. It''s done in the same fashion. the whole carve and slice thing. I use the botanical spray and the gel but can''t remember what else i use. :-) it''s a dream. $100 to care for your curls is cheap when you think of the all the money you will blow over the course of a year on products if you don''t have the right foundation.

I don''t know anything about Ouidad or the Carve and Slice but another option to look into is Devachan. My curly haired friends in NYC discovered the salon and products and they''ve been looking great. I don''t know if they have salons outside of NYC but maybe their products are?

I have (a lot of) think wavy/curly hailr -- I think we''ve discussed this before, Island, and it''s similar to yours. I''ve used a lot of proudcts, including Ouidad, and none have left me super excited. The best thing I can do for my hair is keep it on the short side, between chin and shoulder length (with shoulder length being a bit too long) and getting frequent cuts, every 6 weeks, to avoid a dry, brittle mess. My newest haircut is the best I''ve ever had, except it''s not quite short enough. Next time I get it cut (January 8th) I''m going a shorter. At this length, with this cut, I can do so much with my hair: straighten it and flip it under for a conservative look, straighten it and flip it up, for a bit of sasss, or wear it cute and curly. I LOVE IT! The best way to describe it ist hat I have very chunky layers going. I''d think about taking the length up considerably (your hair sits at about your shoulder blades if memory serves) and having lots of layers cut in.

Hope this helps!
