cushion assets GOG and engagement ring direct

I was wondering why the assets look so different between GOG (vibrant) and engagement rings direct (not as "clear"). GOG assets are "easy" to see the facets and corresponding color, red, blue, green but the engagement rings direct assests aren't like that.
Is it the quality of the cut? Or is there something with the way the asset is being taken?

Photography set up is some of it.

Also GOG's AVC's tend to have less 'melded' colors in the facets because of the way they are cut. Either the facets are blue or they are green, or they are red. And they are blue, green, red in a strict pattern. You rarely see one facet that has say: blue at the edges, green a little ways in, red in the center. Next to another that is the same melding of colors. That's the precision cutting for light performance you are seeing.

ERD's stones are more 'case by case', Mark has and excellent eye but the stones aren't cut FOR him to his specs. So you have to look at them as individuals.

THe AVC is a branded line. It's different. So is Canerra's Vintage Cushions. Those are branded antique cushions cut for light performance.

I agree with Gypsy that the primary reason is that stones cut for ideal light performance certainly should have better ASET images than those that are not, including antique stones. You'll find very few ideal cut cushions in the overall scheme of things.

Some of Mark's cushions are excellent. He's had quite a few I've drooled over. So that's not to say that you can't find a great stone there. you can, and you can find a great stone with great light performance. But it will be case by case, stone by stone.

Yes, he has had some lovely ones. The ASET cannot be THE buying factor.

so how do you find that light performing diamond at ERD then? are you looking for the stone that does have an asset like GOG? or do you have other factors?
