cushion size vs. special cut - Ladies opinions please!

Hi there!

I'm looking at getting a roughly 1 cwt square cushion (Brellia) from GOG with a halo around it for my gf. however I'm told that with time a diamond tends to look smaller and smaller so I may get a regular modern cushion at 1.25 cwt, roughly around the same cost. I am wondering if I should stick with the ideal performance of the smaller Brellia or go for the 1.25 cwt regular cushion with great but not as ideal optics? I guess I like the uniqueness of the Brellia even though I know I'm paying a premium. Would the halo help enhance the size of the 1.0 Brellia??

I think a halo would be a great idea for the Brellia if you are concerned about finger coverage. Does your gf like halos though?

Another idea is adding sidestones to make it a 3 stone or 5 stone ring. Yes, a halo is a good idea for a Brellia. But I will say that Jonathan chooses superior regular modern cushions as well. I see a lot of not great cushions out there, so I would have him call some in if you want to compare them, as he does a great job with fancy cuts.
