I was fortunate enough to get to be involved in the diamond selection and ring design for my e-ring. Unfortunately I found this forum late into the process, but nonetheless I have continued to read, see and learn a lot here, so I thought it only fair that I share mine as well.

When designing the ring I wanted something that was a mix of antique and modern. I went with an elongated cushion because I have very long fingers. I wanted as low-profile as possible, something very delicate and a ring that would allow my wedding band to sit flush. The ring actually went through two iterations... the first had slightly larger diamonds in the halo (at which point I posted a pic and got feedback from many people here - Charmypoo, your response helped me make the decision to go for the change, and I'm so happy I did!).

The ring is absolutely stunning and so well suited for your fingers. I love it and glad I could help.

That is such a beautiful ring, and it's perfect on your hand... Wow -- a D IF... I have never seen one of those in person, but I am sure that it's amazing!

It is stunning!

Yum! That is seriously beautiful. I too love the elongated shape. Please be sure to add yours to the Cushion thread here!

That is absolutely gorgeous!! It looks so beautiful on your hand as it would on any hand because it is just spectacular. WOW! WOW! WOW! is all I can say. And a D IF diamond? That's the top of the pyramid right there. Congratulations on such a lovely ring. Do you care to share with us where you got this beautiful ring? It's just exquisite.

Gorgeous and elegant ring. Love it!

red, it's absolutely gorgeous. I really like the elongated cushion. That shape gives the stone a certain elegance. It's different from what we've been seeing. If you wouldn't mind telling us (or pointing us to the original post), how big were the stones in the halo before, and how big are they now? It looks perfectly proportioned to me.

WOWSA :lickout:

That is a beautiful ring! D!! IF!! You lucky lady!! Wear it in good health!

wow! absolutely stunning! I love the small melee stones, I think it really makes it look delicate

WOW! Stunning ring! And it looks gorgeous on your hand!

It has perfect proportions. Do you mind telling me what size melee are in the halo?

So beautiful. I just had to come take another look!

You have very nice hands! Your ring looks wonderful on your fingers!

One of the most beautiful rings I've seen.

Stunning!!

I think you made the perfect choice re. halo melee size - the proportions are beautiful, and work together to create a lovely, soft, romantic look

Congrats!

Thanks everyone for your kind words and compliments. I do feel incredibly lucky to have this ring.

RedRobbin – The ring was created by Irina Ferry at Soho Gem in NYC. Her designs really stood out when I started looking for their delicate, slightly antique designs. We went to Soho Gem on the recommendation of a friend and also because it is located near where we live, so it was easy for us to stop by on the weekends to view diamonds. Although it was not the most cost effective option, the customer service was truly top notch and made it worth it. They were incredibly understanding when I went back to the store several months later to talk about my issue with the halo melee size.

Diamondbuggy – I am not exactly sure of the size of the melee. The diamonds are different sizes now in the shank and halo, whereas before they were the same size. I know that the original ring had .45 carats and I believe there were about 64 diamonds. The shank is 1.4 mm I believe.

Gemgirl – Here is a picture of the old ring next to the new ring. The old ring was beautiful in its own way. However, I felt that it was bulkier than I had wanted/asked for. Because the diamonds were larger there was also more visible metal as well.

It is GORGEOUS!!! Congrats on a beautiful ring!!!!

red9, thank you for your reply!

I asked about the melee because I'm getting a halo for my e-ring and I'm worried it won't come out exactly like I'm picturing it. I told the jeweller I want it very small and delicate so I'm hoping it has similar proportions to your ring. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed!

Your ring really is stunning! Enjoy it!

I just adore elongated cushions in delicate halos, and this is a gorgeous example of such a lovely look. Many congrats!

Gorgeous setting, and that D IF cushion is amazing!

Your ring is beautiful and gives you a lot of finger coverage. Congrats on your engagement.
