Custom cut CBI story

Starting a new thread (again, sorry!) because other posters have advised that sometimes people search "CBI" to find threads about these stones, so I wanted to make it easier for people to find. Original post here:

Long story short, I got an amazing L color ideal cut diamond from IDJ but then was (super surprisingly) told that CBI/HPD was willing to custom cut a 1ct warm stone for me. IDJ was amazing, my refund was processed, and I will forever recommend people to them due to superior customer service and kindness.

That said, I CAN'T WAIT for my custom cut CBI! I always thought a CBI was way out of my budget, and finding out that I can afford one is mind-boggling.

Latest update is that we think Paul found "my" crystal (expected to be a 1.01, 6.5mm N color). There was another choice that I was close to pulling the trigger on (S color, VS2) but it was expected to be .92 (6.3mm), and I was hoping for 6.5, which the N should be. I am SO FLIPPING EXCITED, and will keep everyone updated as we move forward.

So excited to see the finished product! Any idea when it will be cut and when you will receive it? Any plans for how you will set it?

And I'm glad that you started a new thread. Things can get buried in older ones and people sometimes reply after only reading the first couple posts and it can get very confusing.

So excited for you! I love boldly-colored CBIs! Do you know whether it will have a yellow or brown undertone? (I know you prefer the brown undertones)

Sorry, no pics yet--we were almost ready to say "yes" to the S color, but Paul called Melissa this morning and mentioned the N color option that would yield a 6.5mm, but I guess he's getting it tomorrow and I'll be giving them a deposit on Wed when Wink is back in town. Hopefully I'll get pics of the crystal at some point (just for fun)!

RE: undertones I'm not sure. I'm trusting CBI at this point, and know that I love every stone I've ever seen from them so I'm trying not to get caught up about exact colors or tones, since I think no matter what it will be a stunner. I'm leaving it to their capable hands!

Whoops, I wasn't clear. My impression was that there was a crystal/rough available that Paul *could* buy that would cut approx a .92 S, but that he found another last-min option of the 1.01 N (which I prefer due to size). So I *think* he just didn't end up buying that crystal/rough. But I might also be totally mistaken

aha! no idea--anyone is welcome to it (of course! it's not "mine" anymore). I assume IDJ still has it--anyone who's interested has my FULL blessing to ask IDJ about the "L for the PSer who rudely changed her mind"
