Custom engagement ring.. CADs

Seeing lots of posts about cads and custom design. I am considering going this route with this ring. Any specific experience with a custom cad and who would be preferred? I've seen a price of 150 is that about average or does it vary greatly from designer to designer?

To have just a CAD done, do you mean? I think between 150-250 for a single "round" with a competent artist who can resolve a decent amount of detail is probably pretty standard, yeah.

Read the fine print though - some designers will state that they own your idea once you've submitted it to them. I don't know if there's any legal weight to those sorts of assertions, but if so I could see possibly running into trouble if you want to take those CADs to a different bench or continue the design elsewhere.
