Hello All,
I've been lurking here for a while and have slowly been sucked into the world of diamond buying. I recently made my first foray into asking about a diamond. Here are the specs and idealscope, I was wondering what you all thought about it. Specifically, which part of the specs and ideal scope are good, and what parts might be a cause for concern. Thank you all for your wisdom! Also, not related to this diamond, but do you think it is possible to get a super-ideal cut diamond at a more regular excellent cut price?

Here are the specs:
It's 1.08 carats
It's GIA ex,ex,ex
Depth percentage: 62.1
Table Percentage: 55.0
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavilion Angle: 40.8

Thanks again,

Re: Advice on RB

I think the idealscope image looks very good. I think it is unlikely to find a super ideal cut at an excellent cut price because cutters know what they have and price the stones accordingly. But you can get a stone that is excellent enough that you'd never be able to tell the difference with your eyes.

It looks pretty good. I think there's a bit of leakage under the table (center) and around the tips of the arrows. What's your budget? If it fits your budget and you are just looking for a well performing stone, than I think this is a good stone.

Re: Advice on RB

Ditto DS - precision cutting isn't a happy accident, those stones are specially commissioned (and just as you'd expect it costs more to cut them that way!) so they'll carry premiums..

I like it :sun:

Thanks all for the help. The IS looked pretty to my untrained eye, but definitely glad to get some input. It is in budget and all the other specs are all what I was looking for. Indeed I was looking more for a well-performing diamond rather than one that is ultra-perfect. So it looks like the diamond is good, now I just need to decide if I should buy any diamond at all right now!

Is this for an engagement ring? If so, yes, you'd better be sure!!!

Ditto what DS and Yssie said on super ideals. They are cut to specs and no accident, though you can certainly get a well performing stone without having a super ideal. The little white bits at the tips of the arrows is something you'd expect to see.

Yes, it would be for an e-ring. Without getting into all the details, I would say it wouldn't be completely idiotic for me to buy it now, but probably a little premature. I would say it'd be marginally stupid. :twirl:

I'll probably end up waiting, but we'll see. There'll be other diamonds.

Yes, there most definitely will be other diamonds! But I wish you well and hope you are back here once you think the time is right! Do something special for Valentines Day instead!

 I'd bet that my DH had very similar feelings when we got engaged. You will be able to find another diamond equally as beautiful when the time is right for YOU. Honestly finding the right person is much much more difficult than finding the right ring....and I've gone through my share of both!
