D IF stone search

I totally understand wanting a D IF.
I want one too.

I also totally understand wanting a real diamond instead of one that's not real.
It means something that a diamond is real.

It also means something that it is a D IF.
I do not see too much differnce in the reasoning.
We just want what we want because we want it.

I'll remind people who think it's nuts to want a D IF that lots of people think it's nuts to want a real diamond.

I spent some time looking for Tiffany and Co rings on Estate websites today, but gosh it is time consuming! I seem to be buying signed pieces lately.... I will keep that stone in mind--Thanks Deb!

If you're looking for sympathy because you have to pore over gorgeous ring settings, you aren't getting any from me, friend! What I wanted to know was whether the stone that Stone-cold11 found was dead-on or if you would prefer something a bit different. In the latter case, we could keep looking for a stone for you, you see. That is, we could keep looking for a stone if you told us what you wanted to be different from the diamond that Stone-cold11 found!

Well hello Starry!

I've always wanted this combo in a diamond and not thinking of resale at all. Pure and simple! :))

What pendant--your gorgeous pear???

cheers--Sharon
Just wondering. There is something very alluring about perfection, isn't there? Do you think there's even a remote possibility that someday you'll want to trade it in?

Thinking about the possibility of trade-in, I searched WF for you. They had all Virtual Selection stones - nothing in house. That said, there were 60 D IF stones with an Ideal/Excellent cut between 0.33 and 1.00. If you chose to work with WF, you'd probably be able to find something that would qualify for their trade-in policy.

I'm very sensitive to trading in right now because I traded in my asscher (an F IF) for a RB for a pendant. It was so nice to just order up another stone and not have to come out of pocket a whole lot. I'm fickle and I know it, so that WF policy is right up my alley.

My pear is forever though!

Ah! So that's where you were going, starryeyd! That is a great point! When I was looking for cushion cuts for earrings a couple of weeks ago I was interested in whether vendors had trade-up policies, because I always seem to be wanting new diamonds! Let me just mention that Jonathan (GoodOldGold) also allows consumers to trade up on his stones. Other vendors may as well, but I asked Jonathan specifically. I also know that Sharon sold some of her jewelry a while ago so that she could update, so she does turn things over!

Yes Deb! That "always wanting new diamonds" is a sickness - I suffer from it too! I heard about GOG's policy - also a good one. JA's is a little tough - you have to spend double the original. BGD's is a little tough too - you need to upgrade in 2 of 3 categories: carat weight, color, clarity. With a D IF, where do you go? BN does not have one. I'm not sure of the others.

HI:

Thanks for your gals' input! I really hadn't thought about upgrade. Or the future. Foolish, b'c I could have traded in my old WF pendant toward this stone instead of to an Estate dealer. Short sighted on my part, to be sure. But it is what it is.

I am wearing gold pieces--mostly Signed--and colored stones these days outside of work. Rarely wear any diamonds anymore except for my ER + ETR (and Tiffany cross), hence the purge. Then again, pre PS I recycled pieces often. That said, if I get a smaller stone it will go into an ER setting for work (present) and should I change my mind (future) I can always reset it into a pendant or use it as a sidestone with a colored gem. Or trade it in?

I like the option SC posted but have made no decision and will continue to look for Signed Pieces.

cheers--Sharon

The first time I suggested that my husband buy "what he wanted" he looked at me with incredulity; then exclaimed "what a concept!"

Deb I recall. This time, I do want D and IF. In this size I just might be able to afford it! Do you wear your pendant much?
