Ok I have a dilemma. I have several things I want to buy but can''t buy all of them. So help me pick. currently in my cart are:

1) 7.5-8 mm golden akoya necklace AA+ $410
2) 8.5 mm AAA gray freshwater studs $38
3) 8.5 mm AAA gray freshwater necklace $190
4) 8.5-9 mm white freshwater necklace - gem quality, $350

So it''s really a toss-up between 1 and 4. I want the grays - I saw someone''s grays on the show me your pearls thread (sorry for blanking on who!) and I''ve been wanting some since. Plus the price is great and the size is great too.

I''ve been wanting bigger white freshwaters since I have an old strand of tiny pearls and they''re definitely practical since I pretty much wear pearls every day at work.

But the akoyas look sooo different and special...but the thing is, they''re more expensive and I don''t wear yellow gold jewelry.

Thoughts?

Oh no. I haven''t gotten my graduated gem necklace yet and there is a re-stocking fee. I hope I like them! I was actually very tempted by the gray AAA freshwater strand and earrings, but I''m going to guess that they''re the same as the ones that rainwood didn''t like. Maybe I won''t, as a gunmetal necklace doesn''t sound that appealing.

Good to know on the 7.5-8 though. Thanks, brightlight.
I don''t think you''ll be disappointed with the quality of the gem graduated necklace. However, you may prefer a different shade of lavender. I also personally prefer graduated necklaces shorter.
I know I like the longer ones. I''m pretty tall and have tried on the 18" length before, so I know it suits me. How much variation is there between the shades of lavender? Are certain shades better?

B.E.G., while I LOVE the goldens, I would opt for the gem quality white fwp! I think the larger size, better quality, more "wearable" would clinch it for me.

There is so much that you can do with the white strand in the way of enhancers, etc and the larger size for something you already wear on a daily basis, would be the best bet.

Yes, the goldens are gorgeous, but the question of how often or what to wear them with would have me hesitating on those. Good luck with this difficult, yet fun, decision!

Some of the Tahitians they have are just gorgeous and really affordable. And I like the south sea dangles, but they''re 8mm, and I think if I were going for 8mm dangles I''d probably pick freshwaters. Kelli, maybe you''d want to get a pair of freshwater earrings to test them out and then go for a strand? They had the gray freshwater strands on their Mother''s day sale page also, so I''m guessing its something that they can get in easily.
If that''s the case I''ll just wait anyway. I don''t have lots of money lying around and I still want some white pearls and diamond stud earrings.

My DF will probably kill me if I buy more stuff right now. I have to wait for something I just CAN''T pass up, like the gem quality graduated strand. I''ve had my eye on one of those for a while!

Brown Eyed Girl, did you see Rainwood''s feedback on the AAA gray freshwaters? Just want you to be aware that they are darker than in the pic!
1.gif

I think the gem quality white strand would be the better choice than the golden akoyas.

BEG-- I''d go for the white ones too. Which do you want to get the most wear out of your pearls--- you or your jewelry box?
1.gif

Thanks ladies! Those white freshwaters are really calling to me too. Starshine, I didn''t realize those were the same pearls - darn! I''m kind of wary of those because my work comp resolution is just awful and I can''t tell. Maybe I''ll get the studs since they''re cheaper, and the white freshwaters.

Kelli, I can''t really speak to the different tones that lavender pearls can take but the ones I have from Pearl Outlet have a beautiful silver overtone that makes them very wearable. I''m sure there are as many shades of lavender as there are of black...

As far as the restocking fee, I wonder if you exchanged the peals for another lavender strand, or something else fairly equitable, if they would waive the fee? I guess it can never hurt to ask if you find you don''t like that particular strand...

Skippy those look gorgeous! Unfortunately, again, this resolution is blurgh so I''m going to have to look again from my home comp.

Those are beautiful Skippy! I love the clasp!
30.gif
Are they AAA's from TPO?

And do you have neckshots of those beauties?!
21.gif

Skippy those are really pretty. I think they do look a little darker than the ones on the website (TPO) right now, but they're definitely beautiful.

so my SO decided to buy me the little blue freshwaters with the SS back.
It was a nice little suprise and they are pretty enough. Plus I wasn''t expecting them so it was just nice that he suprised me with something.

I can wear them almost everyday and not worry :)

Skippy those are just gorgeous!

Kelli- I can't wait to see your graduated strand! I have a feeling that it will be a show stopper. I've had my eyes on those also, and I've seen Pandora's graduated Mikimoto stands and I just love the way they look! Haha I am also trying to keep myself 'focused' on a couple of the pieces that I've wanted for a long time. Somehow I always get distracted by sales, and I end up spending $30 here and $50 there, instead of putting that money into a piggy bank. After seeing Skippy's gray freshwaters though...I really want a pair of studs!

Hehe Skippy I can see the reflection of you taking the picture in the pearls!

Here is a neck shot (Starshine) of both Freshadamas and AAA's, thank you for your sweet words szho7, Kelli, Starshine, and Browneyedgirl.

Skippy I adore those! I had removed them from my cart after reading that they were darker, but they''re really really gorgeous, and now I''m conflicted again!

I would go for PP''s akoya special if you want the blue; those look gorgeous. These gray''s I gave to my mom for Mother''s day and today I ordered the earrings to go with them. They aren''t perfect like the freshadamas but the orient is very pretty, shape is perfectly round I bet you could ask them if they have a lighter strand. I called them today and talked to them about colors and orients and they were super helpful.

Skippy, what size are those gray freshwaters? What size are your Freshadamas? They look lovely on your lovely neck.

You inspired me, Skippy. I ordered the gray freshwaters (the 7.5 mm ones) with matching studs. I hope I get a good batch!

Gray is my favorite color.

Certain shades aren''t better than others. It''s just that I''ve seen a really wide range of lavender pearls - a mauve color to more of a blueish lavender, light to really deep colors.

I''d have loved it if the Daily Deal gray freshwaters they sent me would have looked like Skippy''s. They were smaller, darker, and with a lot less lustre. If I were to try it again, I''d get the larger diameter. I have a strand of gray Akoyas that are AA at best in the larger size and they looked better than the supposed AAA from TPO. The TPO were nice and round though.

And I''m going to be ticked if they just happened to send me a dog of a necklace. That''s not cool, plus they have that 12% restocking fee as well as return shipping. Bummer.

Rainwood thanks, if they are not pretty tell them and maybe they have a lighter strand? I always think people should be happy or the company should try to make things right but that is just me.

Skippy, you have nothing to be sorry about as you did not threadjack... This is the perfect place to show and tell about what we find (good and bad) on TPO!

Those strands are beautiful on you! Do you / would you ever consider wearing them together? In the past, Coco Chanel and others would wear multiple strands of different sizes, lengths, and colors and it always looked great! I would like to do that as well if the ocassion called for it... I like how the 2 strands look on you. The slightly smaller whites and the larger grays work very well together!

Julie

ETA - Sorry Skippy, I just realized the grays belong to your mom so obviously you don't wear them together... Does anyone else combine multiple strands?

Skippy, girl those grey pearls are gorgeous!
I''ve looked at the different vendors sites for a while, but
gosh it''s hard to know just what you are gonna end up with,
but I''m dying for some!!
