TWO POUNDS!!!! Okay so I know it really is not a big deal, but it makes me feel like it is worth it to be trading the belgium delight of fries for low calories things like roast beef or soup. I had wanted to do the whole chicken soup thing...but to my GREAT horror, I went to the wal-mart and they were sold out of Chicken with Stars...okay I am done ranting.
Anyway I am really hopeful that I will be able to keep this momentum.

How is everyone else doing? FountainFairFax, Milly, AmandaPanda, AmberGrecthen, Ms Flutter....?

Congratulations! Two pounds is a huge deal (but only if you''re losing it... if you gained two pounds it''s nothing...

)!

I didn''t do any formal exercise this weekend, but Saturday I walked around for about five hours... to a museum, walked around there for an hour plus, then through the park, then around some stores... was mighty tired afterwards and my legs were killing me the next day.

I should have worked out this morning, but my bf had to get up early to leave for a business trip and I just got so sad that he''s leaving, that I couldn''t get out of bed. So pathetic of me! He''s coming back tonight for goodness sake!

Maybe I''ll go tonight, but that usually doesn''t work out.

It''s starting to get cooler out, which means I''ll have to wear pants again. Getting very nervous about that...

AP- i think we are on the same page! My BF left this morning too. so no work out here either. He''s coming back thursday though- just in time for my Saturday b-day. (another depressing day! 25- and no engagement...but that''s for another thread)

i plan to go all this week after work (instead of morning) and step it up a bit! my usual is to do 30-35 minutes of eliptical with occasional weights. this week my goal is to do 35-45 minutes weights followed by hi-incline fast walking on the tread/elliptical. my friend hired a PT and she said that doing incline fast walking is best for burning off fat waist down. i''ll give it my all this week and see what happens!

AP- After walking that far you might try down faced dog, bridge and bow posistions to give your legs a chance to streach, I always run through a few before going and after when I get back. I am sorry your legs hurt but look at it this way, it means you definately got in some real exercise and you were not evening aiming for that, nice!

jcrow- 25 is not so bad. It is not like you are 85! I think your idea of stepping things up is a great one! There is nothing like giving it your all to make you feel better at the end of a long week, plus perhaps a little extra time in the gym at night this week will keep you from being lonely while your BF is out of town.

Mata- way to go!! 2 lb. is great!! I was sorry to hear about your feet too- feeling better?

PS- Walking on an incline is FAB! I really toned up my legs and butt that way and lost 28 lbs by varying things up!

I had an awesome workout for 20 minutes on the bike, then 10 on the "roving-stair machine"- basically a stepper that has steps that move- this was Saturday. Yesterday- I put in a grueling 4 hour shopping trip!

Tonight I think I''ll focus back on weights doing a total body workout!

Matadora- Congrats on the 2 lbs! I''m sure that it has raised your spirits. How are the feet?

My fitness regime has gone by the wayside for now. I began to feel sicky on Friday eve, and it turned into a full-blown cold yesterday. I feel a bit better today- but am bit stuffy and have medicine head. I don''t know about anyone else, but I HATE to workout when I''m sick. Plus, I''m heading out on a biz trip tomorrow, so I''ll have no time to workout for the next couple of days. The plan is to keep the diet in check! I at least have control over that.

I did try on some "fall/winter" pants/jeans last nite, as the weather here in SoCal is turning a bit. And.... it''s not so bad. Nope, they don''t quite fit right (they zip, but I can''t breathe!), so it gave me some hope. I didn''t actually gain as much weight this year as I originally thought.

Good luck to everyone this week, and I''ll check in when I''m back home.

wow 28 lbs.!!! awesome... Gives me hope that this will tone hard to reach spots! anyone have ideas for quickly toning the midsection??? some kind of cardio for the stomach??

Well, that sucked. My shoes got wet last night when the back end of the storm hit me while walking. So I wore diffrent ones today. I did 8.93 miles and I wont be going again tonight unless my shoes are dry the others just hurt too badly and of course my feet were bleeding again. Bleh. Though I did stop and refill my water bottle and finished it off again so that is 64ozs of water towards my daily total.
Caligal- Wow 28lbs! Very nice! Are you doing what you do now to maintain?

OK ladies I know I''ve been really bad. I sort of got off track for a few weeks with school starting and everything and now I need all of you to help me get back on track.

First, the bad news: my knee has been KILLING me, which has made it hard to work out - it just swells up like a balloon and keeps me up at night, which sucks. Also, I''ve developed a phobia of getting on the the scale since I haven''t been as good. I know I have to go back soon, I just can''t bring myself to.

Then, the good news: they may finally have a diagnosis for my knee (bursitis) - I see the doctor on Wednesday and will probably get a cortisone injection which will hopefully (need that PS good luck stuff here) help, finally. It would be so nice to not have to deal with pain every time I work out. Also, my size 6 jeans (Banana Republic) still fit fine, even after going through the drier, so I don''t think I''ve gained very much weight, if at all. My eating has been getting back on track which is also good. And the most exciting good news is that they are finally opening the new gym at my school which is only 5-10 minutes from my lab, which means I can work out during the day when I have incubations/breaks in my experiments, rather than having to leave it until the end of the day always, which is the only time I can park at the other gym.
36.gif

OK, that''s all my news and sorry to be so absent - I promise I''ll try to post more.

Oh and I''m going to the gym tonight and tomorrow because I doubt I''ll be able to go Wednesday or Thursday with the injection...

p.s. Matatora - I missed the foot thing but I''m sorry to hear they are giving you trouble. I used to be a ballet dancer so I know a fair bit about foot issues - if you PM me or put the story in this thread maybe I can try to help??

Congrats to everyone that lost weight, whether it be 2lbs or 28lbs!

Well, I have little to report. I didn''t work out since last Wednesday....I usually go Mon, Wed, Fri and Saturday, but Friday was my anniversary, so instead of working out hard so that I could eat as much as possible, I went shopping instead. I wanted to find the perfect date outfit to wear because I wanted my husband to see me in something brand new....like dating a new hot chick
2.gif

On Saturday my husband took off for England (he''ll be there for 1 week on business), so I couldn''t workout because of my 2 clingy toddlers. However, chasing my toddlers all over the park Sat, and Sun was a lot of work. I also had to do all the chores that hubby usually did (like bathing the kids) all by myself, so I think that burned some calories. I sure needed it because when dh is not around, I eat like a toddler...I don''t cook for just myself. I just eat whatever my kids eat. That being said, I had taquitos, pizza, chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese, spaghetti, canned fruit, yogurts and lotsa lotsa carbs this weekend. Tonight we''re having Mac N cheese and store-bought roast chicken.

I managed to drag my butt to the gym at lunch today, and that''s where I found out I haven''t packed on any weight, but I felt weaker. I could barely get through my usual routine of 2 miles run on treadmill, 15 minutes on elliptical and 10 minutes weight training. I''m completely pooped right now...maybe it''s because of my diet?

I have maintained the loss since May- YAY! Basically I both adopted the South Beach lifestyle (although now I have incorporated everything back in, except in smaller portions) and I did cardio and weight training. For cardio I walked on an incline at a fast speed, did eliptical (I would do 2 minutes semi-fast, 1 minute super-fast and alternate this for 30 minutes), did stationary bike (see eliptical training tips- I also did this on the bike). I also did weight training at home- the Cardio Blast program by Cathe Freidrich (she also has tapes in case you don''t have Fit TV on your cable selection)- I did this one or 2 times a week.

Now I maintain the same level- 2-3 days cardio, 1-2 days weight training. Oh- she has the BEST core training EVER- called Coreblast by Cathe Freidrich- really works the midsection! With the holidays just around the corner it will be hard to maintain willpower- so basically I use the "vegis first, then meat and dairy, THEN you can have a small desert" rule of thumb- works for me! Keep your heads up gals- YOU CAN DO IT!!

Congrats on the weight lost!
36.gif

I did my weigh in yesterday and discovered I lost 1.3 pounds compared to my weigh in the Sunday before. I am feeling pretty good about that. I worked out 5 days last week, so the 1.3lbs is a huge achievement for me.
9.gif

I will continue again this week and hopefully lose another pound. I actually gained 6 lbs since Aug, so this is just loosing the 6 lbs that I gained, but it still feels good just to lose them. My weight gain was from my Vegas trip and also not exercising for 3.5 weeks.

No more side tracking for me. Sam knew how important it was for me to lose this (I'm still calling it "baby weight"), so he designed a working out and tracking program for me. We work out for 1 hour on Mon, Wed, Fri, doing cardio, and 1/2 hour on Tues, Thur doing light weight training and 15 min cardio.

He's giving me points for working out based on what I'm doing, whether it be jogging, weight training, elliptical, pilates, etc. So, it's kinda fun. And he also started working out with me on Mon, Wed, Fri for the cardio exercises. He usually works out at his gym, but decided to work out with me instead, since I was getting depressed with gaining weight.

His support is making this so much easier for me now. I hope I can get to my goal! Only 32.3 more pounds to go! LOL.....

Congrats Milly! Way to go, I am super jealous of your prgram with Sam. That sounds fantastic! Keep up the good work! At the rate you are going you ought to be done by Febuary! Just in time for some Valentines Day fun!

Congrats on the 2 pounds, Matatora! That''s awesome!

I had my bone scan for my possible stress fracture today. Either way, I''m not running for a week or two. So I did 45 minutes on the bike today- couldn''t even muster up the energy or interest in weights.

I think I''m coming to a realization that my weight is not going to drop any more. It''s pretty much stabilized but luckily I''ve dropped a size in pants, so I guess I can live with that.

Oh LS! I am sorry to hear you feeling so down! Please dont. Perhaps a week off? It is said that if you go everyday you need to take every 8th week off in order to allow your muscles to repair themselves. Perhaps you are doing too much. I have no clue what size you are but dropping a size is an accomplishment to be proud of!

Oh Miss Matatora, 2 lbs is fantastic!!!!!! Congrats, you are working so hard and its paying off! Way to go
36.gif
I''m sorry to hear about your poor feet, I know its been suggested before but what about bike riding and giving those blisters a chance to heal? I''m paying the price of wearing new shoes w/no socks last week- blisters all over again!

Everyone else is doing so wonderful and it serves as a constant reminder that it''s possible for me to get to where I want to be. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories, trials and successes- it really does make a difference to me to know I''m not in this alone!

I have very little good to report- no formal workouts but did a lot of physical stuff getting ready for the new house. Still very bad with the food, although I did have a long talk w/my mother last night about what I should do about what really amounts to very little willpower and overall lack of control- of course she said "don''t buy the stuff" but then admitted that probably isn''t the answer- I just have to be very accountable to myself- write it all down, be honest and stop and think before I eat. Blah blah blah...I''ll check in again tomorrow with a better attitude

Hee, well today I was kind of bad...but its okay.
9.gif
I had my typical breakfast, but then I was at home working so I just had leftover spaghetti which was fab but I''m sure not super healthy. Then I had some watermelon. For dinner Greg is getting us burritos, mine is usu chicken, rice, beans and cheese with lots of hot sauce.

I did walk ~1m today with P at a brisk pace so at least I did something.
31.gif
If it gets the metabolism up that helps burn off the burrito! Tomorrow is kbox class so I''m ready for some pain and suffering! Bring it on!!
27.gif

I feel okay about things because all my clothes fit me fine for fall from last year before I gained the ~10lbs, and I plan to get some new stuff since the fall fashions are so cute, but want to see where another few weeks take me, if I can get down another inch in the waist for the jeans it would be perfect and about all I really want to do. I''m not aiming to be Nicole Richie here. So we''ll see. If not, I''m still feeling very happy about things...I''m definitely back where I want to be and am very happy I started kboxing again, I think it''s notched me up another level and I feel so good being all sweaty and gross after class (even if my pec hurts).

Mata...stay off those feet girl, BLEEDING IS A BAD THING. You can do other stuff yanno.

Oh and what is the chicken soup thing??

I dont own a bike anymore...I got hit by a car in 6th grade and I still have some issues about that. I am fine for the ones in gyms away from cars but at the moment that is not an option for me.
28.gif
I did another 5.18 miles and I kept the pace up nicely. So I am happy with that. I still have not made it to the store. Oh and chicken soup is just that, chicken soup I am large (but hopefully soon to be small
2.gif
) fan of Chicken with Stars. It is a fail safe with me. Plus the body burns liquid calories more quickly then solids.
