This ruby, .97 carats, is damaged, nasty chip. It either needs a recut or to be set as is and loved despite its history.
Despite its nasty damage it is a fabulous colour and given its inclusions I’d surmise Burmese.
I don’t know if it’s worth anything but if you’d like it, make me an offer. Shipping from Australia will be $15.

Hope a PSer buys it and we can see a the reset/recut!

This is beautiful and I'm sure there are people who would love it! But for people like me who are kind of clueless, is there any sense of what a fair price is for something so $$ that's chipped? I just literally have no clue, which makes me think others might feel the same. And also I secretly hope this sells immediately so I'm not tempted haha.

I’m not really looking for $$ just a loving new home.
I think with just a tidy up recut it should be at least .50 carat, thankfully rubies are about colour not “sparkle” like diamonds so I think you could get away with doing that.
James Allen has some slightly bigger ones around $800 so if a recut is less than that I think it’s worth doing. The wee ruby is nice.
Look at its glow, sunshine and just outside, so pretty.

@Bron357 Wow, I'm usually not for small stones but that is just beautiful. I'm very tempted to get it and just bezel it as is without recurring, it doesnt look that bad to me.

Hi, got your message. A slightly thick bezel would hide a lot of the damage, but the chip will still be there. But, as you notice in the photos it’s pretty hard to see given the strong colour.

I was just thinking that wouldn't it be great if it could be recut in Australia by a local gemcutter like Doug Menadue. Lovely colour on this stone!

Hi- I’m assuming this was me.
I am on here!:oops2: I just didn’t think to mention it.
If you want to negotiate price further- I am of course open to that. Please contact me off of PS.
Thank you!

The color of your ruby is to die for! I just wanted to mention that I had seen a Ruby on GemRite that had a cut that might work for this stone.

I can picture it as a bezel pendant with chain connector/ears on either side of the flat cut.

HI - I am an Aussie PS' er I am interested in your ruby - my mother gave me her mothers engagement ring, it is a wide diamond band with a ruby in the centre - now the stone is definitely not a ruby and I it isn't something I want to break to my mum as it has a lot of sentimental value - I may try and reset it as is as it is a bezel setting. I will post some photos of my grandmothers engagement ring -is there another email address I can contact you or via loupetroup - I have to rush to work now but saw this and thought it was just meant to me .

Oops. My bad.

Wow, and im embarrassed to say I was thinking “I’ll toss this, not worth keeping”. I have the 6.19 carat and a 2.96 carat needing restoration.
I think to be fair seeing as quite a few people are interested I’ll do a draw and ask for $50 plus shipping. I’m donating that $50 btw to a Greyhound Rescue charity.

Ruby raffle! Count me in too, and thanks, Bron for making it fun on this forum !

Please count me in too Bron (only if this isn't cheeky - I have disappeared from the forum for a bit due to being sick for ages, and just coming back on board again) =)2

Ooh me too please :) I love her colour!!

I would like to be added to the raffle, too. Is responding here ok, or should we send an e-mail?

Me too! Me too!

This is fun and I love the idea of the greyhound rescue fund. I have a friend who fosters dogs and had several that were former racing dogs. It's sickening how these magnificent animals are used and then thrown away like garbage when they're too old to race.

count me in too please! The color is gorgeous!!

Pretty pretty please, can I join?

Can I join too? It's just so pretty!

When in Rome...count me in, thank you!
