Ok, so just out of curiosity, certainly not because I am in the market currently, I called Oscar Heyman!

Fascinating experience.

I used their contact number on their website.

A nice gentleman answered the phone and I asked him for prices for wedding bands, alternating diamonds and colored stones, A. emerald, diamond half band platinum, C. emerald diamond full band, G. sapphire ruby diamond full band, and ruby, diamond half band under alternating diamonds and colored stones, wedding bands front page.

He told me that they don't deal with the public!

In fact, the first question he asked me is if I was an individual or a retailer.

He told me to call Neiman Marcus in Honolulu, and then, wait for it... they would call Oscar Heyman for current pricing for the wedding bands.

I told the gentleman that his company is legendary and his company's work is exquisite.

He thanked me "for the nice compliment."

He thanked me again for the nice compliment before we said good bye.

It was a thoroughly pleasant experience, but apparently buying an Oscar Heyman piece involves a relatively complex set of steps. I can't call Neiman Marcus and ask for the prices. I have to call them, give them my request for information, wait for them to contact Oscar Heyman, and then get back to me!

I will do it. I just want to get a feel for the prices, especially for the ruby, diamond channel set half band.

I'm betting on them getting back to me and saying something wild like $20,000 so that I can cross them off my "list of things that are ever going to happen!"

I suspect the knife will be sharp and it won't hurt a bit!

LOL!

I'll follow up and let you know what the prices are, assuming all these steps go off without a hitch.

Just for the fun of it!

They have a history of contracting with the most famous jewelry houses and dealing with the masses just isn't their thing, although the gentleman was super-nice. :cheeky:

Danny, you are a gas! Too amazing.

I'm waiting to hear what NM tells you. Not surprised Heyman doesn't sell to the public -- they do not have their own stores, so would create havoc w/their retailers by competing with them. I've seen rare one-off pieces they designed for a specific person but imagine the order came through a jeweler. Didn't know NM carried Heyman -- will have to hustle down to the one here & have a look-see. I've never had the joy of seeing a Heyman piece real & in living color.

Admiration for you! I'd never have thought of picking up the phone & asking! Glad to hear they were as nice as their jewelry is.

Laurie, thanks! You're my jewel partner in crime!

I will follow through with this. I just have to know what these amazing objects cost.

I'm so glad you introduced me to Heyman. They're at the very top of my list along with Cartier and VCA. I'm still learning about Heyman (of course!) and I don't think they would have rivaled the totality of Cartier's and VCA's design creativity but it's the old school craftsmanship (at least in pictures!) that knocks me out.

Please give me a month or two because I expect I won't be able to do this next week and then it's going to take some time for NM to get back to me. If you find out anything at NM, please let me know! :))

good stuff Danny! 8-)

Thanks jewelerman! :))

Thanks, pregcurious!

I've never bought from that vendor, and I don't know if it's authentic, but it looks well made. It's hard to find these pieces on the secondary market unless you go to a high end jeweler.

Nice ring, PFM. Can't do better than Heyman imo. If the ruby band is real, it's a good bargain. It is unusual to find Heyman pieces outside of high-end auction houses or jewelers. I'm a little skeptical about it because of the price: the quality of their rubies alone would seem to be worth more than that, but it looks good in the photos.

Is it just me, or do the rubies look really pink? I know that Burmese rubies tend to be pink, and they are hard to photograph, but the ones on the OH sign look closer to red. There is a picture of a nearly identical one on the OH website on page 17: http://www.oscarheyman.com/holiday.php

It looks like the hallmark and other markings have worn down b/c they are on the side?
