Dark green chrysoberyl

They offer a round green zircon - maybe this was your stone...

The video of the 5,35 ct trillion - not a vanadium Chrysoberyl - to much yellow. But only my personal opinion...

I love the stone you purchased - and finally received! I had actually had it saved in my favorites thinking it looked minty like a Vanadium Chrysoberyl. What do you think @Nosean ? I remember you mentioning you sent V. chrysoberyls to GIA.

Maybe this vendor stumbled across a couple of V. Chrysoberyls and didn’t even know it. Yours is a gorgeous stone.

No, Dr. Schmetzer wrote an article with my stones and the stock of a french vendor about natural and synthetic Kyocera V Chrysoberyl a few years ago.

I still love and collect them.

Vanadium Chrysoberyl looks best in daylight.

The oval is nice - a stone I would buy for a good price - but you have to compare it with a good color...

Here are some nice V Chrysoberyls from a friend of mine ( he got my largest fine colored cushion for some cobalt spinel - unfortunately he collects the same stones like me but a nice guy)

Still think to buy this one around 1 ct...very nice color.

What did the vendor say when you said you wanted to return??

Just now seeing this. I messaged her and said I was sent a 2.25ct darker green round stone when I purchased a 2.48ct oval lighter green stone, and that I would send her the round stone back but wanted a refund if she didn't have the oval anymore. She immediately admitted her mistake and that she would send on Monday (this was Saturday evening). She did everything she said she would. Who knows if she celebrated my ignorance...

I obviously can't swear it wasn't a zircon, but the gem box said 2.25ct and I weighed it myself. 2.25 right on the money.

Can you imagine if it was a VC? Omg. Ask for it back!

Was the zircon 2.25 ct?

The zircon in her Etsy store says it's 2.13ct. I have gone full circle about that stone more than once since Saturday night, but it's split milk now. I comfort myself knowing that I have the stone that I find more beautiful and will wear, even if it is a much more common color. I know to some of ya'll that naivete may seem like putting ketchup on a 30 dollar steak, but hey, it's what makes me happy .

I actually love your stone. I prefer it over the yellowish green ones. I think the other stone might be too good to be true....

I love the stone you got, and it's entirely possible the stone you were sent by accident was a peridot/zircon. Always go for what you love!

Thank you Soxfan and Lovedogs!

Hello everyone!

I purchased a lemon-lime green chrysoberyl last week from an online vendor and was sent the wrong stone. I initially told them I didn't want this one and would send back on Monday, but the more I look at it the more I like it. My question is though, what is the value of a dark green chrysoberyl so I can make an offer? All I can find online are the yellow, yellow-green, neon, etc. It is round (obviously) and weighs 2.25ct. Thanks for any help!20180715_155656.jpg

P.S. they apologized profusely and are sending the correct stone Monday.

I am wondering if I can get your opinion, how yellow was this stone? And was it kind of neon? I’ve never considered chrysoberyls before because they tend to be quite yellow.

I also love the one you originally bought more. It’s beautiful! How will you set it? Agree with the philosophy to buy what you love!

Very, very little yellow, and not neon at all. It looked like a nice peridot. So it was green leaning to the yellow side versus the blue side.

Thank you, I love it too. My hubby has suggested a pendant, but I'm thinking a ring so I can see it too! He laughed at me because I took it to work yesterday and propped up the gem box against my computer so I could look at it all day. Haha

It’s really beautiful but it does shift in indoor lighting (the yellow pic) which I’ve been told is common with chrysoberyls. They have insisted it’s a chryso Only and there was just a mix up while sending yours.

Ladies what do you think? Could it be a VC?

It does not look like one to me. I think even if it does contain trace amounts of vanadium it does not have the beautiful minty/bluish color that makes VCs so beautiful.

Doesn't look to be same facet pattern than original post, when comparing.

That’s exactly what I had thought too actually but the vendor insisted it’s the same one. After that I just figured I got it wrong. Perhaps Mrs Strizzle can confirm?

I am not a lady but no - this is not a vanadium chrysoberyl.

To much yellow so to much iron.

The best VC have a bluishgreen color - light to medium. Very rare are deeper green ones with a color quite similar to the daylight color of an alexandrite but not CC.

VC is a variety with a very low iron content and a V > Cr ratio.
Increasing iron content and the bluish green gets purer light green and then yellowish green to yellow green.

If you notice yellow in the color I wouldn’t call it a VC and def. wouldn’t pay a higher price for it.
This round stone is very nice but not a VC.

And looks different to the first stone.

I think it's the same one. Here's another pic I had of it but didn't post because it looks like there's a window, and u I didn't feel it was accurate.

@Mrs_Strizzle I don't think that's a window. A window is where you can see through, so I would expect to be able to see your fingers underneath if it was a window. I wouldn't even call it a tilt window. I think that dark spot is just an indication of the fact that the light doesn't make it through the table if you tilt it that way to take pictures. Other members of PS correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for confirming!
