Greetings, everyone.
Like so many others before me, I come to you with mixed feelings: Extremely grateful there are folks like yourselves out there willing to share their time and knowledge, disappointed that even after five months of searching, I seem unable to come up with clear answers: B&M store or internet? "Whole-saler"? Tiffany? D vs F vs H. Ideal or Classic? H&A? The new G-I-A ideal or AGS? New or Used? The entire process seems more confusing than buying my first home and certainly more intimidating than my first kiss.
That said, time waits for no man. I must move and move now. So I come to you humbled.
I am on the verge of purchasing the following stone from what is literally a family friend in the diamond business, a "wholesaler", for $6,200. I guess I’m going to buy the much-written about D-Vatche X-prong for the setting.
I would love to buy the Tiffany Lucida. But after spending many sleepless hours on this site and others like it I cannot bring myself to fork out the extra $$$. It just doesn’t seem like I would be getting the best diamond for my money.
So here is my reading of the AGS certificate. I hope the #’s are correct. I am no expert at reading this diagram

Please help.
