I hear ya! I like higher color/clarity stones myself but I stopped at G to get the size and clarity I wanted. But I am totally fine with anyone who chooses to pay for D-F. There is no reason for a stone with SBF to be worth less than one without it as long as there is no haziness in the sun. I really do think the tide may turn and they will become more popular as vendors like Brian Gavin promote them. And I think it may happen due to the fact that diamonds are so high in general right now. Once they become popular, then prices will rise. Then we'll be glad we got them when we did! I traded an ideal cut G VS1 with no fl. for one with SBF because I wanted it!!! I think the glow under UV light is amazing!!! If you don't yet have a UV light, this is a cool little one that I ordered:

Shine it to the side of the stone, not directly at the top.
You see no blue 99% of the time. You can see in my sunshine pictures an extremely light lavender tint. I don't think most people would notice it, but I think it is beautiful!
No, your reason for the blue-white becoming unpopular is not correct, I don't think. Let me see if I can find the article about it.
This is not the history article, but here is some very good info on fluorescence:
