Ok, so for weeks it's been tough to find anything with my specs and now there are 4 options, almost overnight ;-) I'd be grateful for your advice what the best choice would be. I need to make a decision pretty soon. Currently undecided between 2) and 3) - what do you think?

1) Whiteflash H&A, 2.19ct, G VS1

2) BGD signature H&A, 2.26, G VS2

3) GOG "non-traditional" H&A, 2.3ct, G, VS1

This is actually more akin to a 60/60 cut, but the optical symmetry is just as high as for any traditional H&A.

4) Whiteflash H&A, 2.48ct, G VS1

Very cool since it's basically a 2.5ct, but the cut is steeper so I wouldn't gain that much in spread with the additional wight.

There are no images yet, but Whiteflash says it will definitely be one of their signature H&As. It's actually outside of my budget range, so I wouldn't pick it unless there are clear arguments that it's the superior choice. Here's the certificate:

Between the WF one with the link and the BGD, the BGD has the better idealscope. I personally think #4 is the best from what you put. If you're spending that much money and it's down to all of the choices being similar in cut and performance, I say get the biggest, so that's my vote.

I also like #4...I think small tables in big stones are cool. However, in budget then I prefer a G VS2 over an H VS1... so the BGD stone is my pick.

I prefer G VS1 over a similarly priced G VS2 (and my own diamond is G VS1, fyi), so I would easily choose the WhiteFlash G VS1:

Even though I love both WF and GOG and have bought from both, I prefer the cut on the WF stone the most. In fact, I'd love to have that exact diamond in 2.0 cts!

Oh, and I overlooked #4. Clearly if you want a larger stone, that one would be the obvious choice! That would be a very large stone!

All are gorgeous stones, I would go for the biggest one..2.48ct! :naughty: IF your budget allows.. that's not cut steep in fact, its perfect.
The BGD, WF, and GOG are all gorgeous.. this is a tough decision!

#4 would be my choice but not sure what the cost is.

No brainer..the big one #4...2.48c G VS1...lucky you! It has the smallest table...yum! It looks wonderful.

..number 4 is 44k.....40k would be my real point, so this one would be stretching it really hard....other than the pure size, is there anything that speaks for this particular stone?

Does that include the PS discount? I'd talk to them and see if they could give you a break since you're spending so much. Or maybe see if they can include a setting for that price. I do think however, that the size difference is definitely noticeable and IMO worth the 4k extra. And it's AGS and I love how their report looks on that stone.

I'll have a chat with them ;-) When I look at the numbers, though, the Whiteflash 2.48ct is 12% more expensive than the BGD, 10% heavier in carat weight, but only 3% wider in spread, so would that be really a noticeable size difference face up in a setting?

3% is just barely noticeable

But actually the big one is 5.74% larger than the BGD 2.264... which is more noticeable.

It's 8.71mm for the big WF vs. 8.46mm for the BGD, if I take the lower boundary of the spread, so that's 2.95%....or am I getting something wrong?

We measure spread by surface area, not diameter

the radii are 4.24 mm and 4.36mm, respectively.

4.36^2/4.24^2 = 1.0574

all right, makes sense ;-)

43.5k is the best WF can do on the big one...that's 4700 bucks more than the BGD...tough decision, but proably I'll stick to my guns and stay within budget.

Comparing the BGD vs. the GOG one, what would you think?

Well, the GOG one is nice, has a Lifetime Guarantee, and is spready.

I just prefer that kind of proportions in smaller stones. I wouldn't pick it over the BGD.

I like the WF 2.19 G VS1 over the BG 2.26 G VS2 for nearly the same price. That VS1 clarity is worth a lot in terms of price.

I love Jon, but for a guy talking about optics, he really needs some anti-reflective coating on his glasses.

It is very beautiful, but you only get one.

GOG stone is bigger and a VS1.

Weeeellllll, now that I see the GOG stone in the video, it is very hard to deny that 8.6mm is going to be very, very nice at this pricepoint! And the stone looks beautiful!!! I do like G VS1, so I would be happy with this one or the 2.19!

That 2.30 looked really colorful in the video, and almost the same size as the 2.48. Hmmm! you have a tough decision to make. (they all look like great picks) I'll be waiting to see which one is the winner.

...so, passed on the GOG and paid the (refundable) deposit to bring the 2.48ct inhouse. Seems like the proportions of the 2.48 are really in the center of the H&A zone when I compare the parameters against this website (which is what convinced me that I could potentially go beyond my comfort zone):

Jonathan from GOG is conduction another search in parallel. Maybe he comes up with a strong contender, let's see.

BTW: When comparing the 2.19 Whiteflash and then 2.48 Whiteflash, would you say there are noteworthy differences other than the size (e.g., some parameter sticking out, something about the ASET of the 2.19 etc...)?

Thanks again for all of your help. You have really been wonderful!!
