Yeah, okay, I just dislike the inconvenience. In all honesty, my periods were a dream: never had any PMS or post-MS, light bleeding for 3-4 days and that''s it. But dang, it was so much easier the two years I never had to think about it!!

Scint makes a good point re: the continuous pill, I was on Levelen which is monophasic and then the one week of sugar placebos. It had low weight gain, it helped regulate and lessen my periods (I get the worst cramps and am SUPER bitchy and cranky... hee hee ... yes that means more than usual!) and no other side effects for me, I''ve taken it for years.

Levlen (also Nordette, Levora, and Portia) are all the same as Seasonale, just packaged monthly. I''m taking this pill also (whatever brand my insurance feels like covering), and I go several months without a period as well. My doctor recommended I do it this way, two months of active pills in a row, rather than the Seasonale, and that if I have spotting, to listen to my body and skip the active pills for a week. Like Mara mentioned, it seems like your body will only wait so long. I love the ability to chose when I''ll have my period.

I don''t know when your wedding is, but if you get on the pill a few months before, you should have time to get used to it. Plan it so you get your period two or three weeks before the wedding, then take active pills till you get back from the honeymoon. Keep in mind that it takes about a month of use to be effective as birth control (some say less, but I''d go a month to be safe).

Another way to get around not having your period on your HM is to switch up the weeks so that you still get it every month just in two weeks instead of three weeks apart. I just don''t like the idea of not getting it every month or going two months straight on the regular pills.

I have tried skipping the inactive pills, but it made me spot really heavily for several weeks. I hear that''s somewhat common. My suggestion would be that if you''ve never tried skipping them before, don''t plan on testing it out for your wedding.

Probably the best way to avoid having your period during the wedding (if it''s scheduled to fall during that week of your pills) is to do back-to-back packs (skipping the inactive pills) a few months before the wedding, and then go back to the regular schedule. Doing that should re-jigger the weeks, moving your period up a week, so that it won''t coincide with the wedding and you don''t have to be fiddling with the pills and spotting either.

I definitely wouldn''t suggest Depo in your case. If you''re on the pill, you should be able to find a way to manipulate your cycle with the pills. If your not, then I would suggest trying the pill before going on Depo. If you react badly to the hormones, at least you can stop taking the pill.

My 2cts-

Especially if you haven''t already been on it for some months now and KNOW how your body will react, SAY NO TO DEPO! Many women experience spotting between periods, periods coming at times when they weren''t expected, etc. Not what you want for your honeymoon. Go back to your doctor and ask for them to put you on BC pills *or the patch, or my personal favorite, the Nuva Ring* and have them help you plan around your honeymoon (like other suggested.) But Depo since it is an injection rather than a steady dose once every 24 hours, is a bit harder to predict especially for people who haven''t taken it before.

best wishes!

May I ask why the Nuva Ring is your personal favorite? Once my current Depo shot is up, I want to switch and I don''t really trust myself to take pills consistently.
