My FI and I have picked out the colors below for our wedding next fall, and we''re trying to come up with some sort of design theme that goes with them to tie everything together. We wanted colors that were fitting for the time of year, but not the typical fall fare. The blue (or something similar, maybe a touch brighter) will be used for the BM dresses, the tux vests/ties, ribbons on the bouquets, and other general accents, while the plum/burgundy/what-in-the-world-do-you-call-that-shade? will be the main color in the flowers, the color of the invite pocket fold or backing, etc. White will be used as necessary to brighten things up.

So, what I mean by design theme is some graphical element, style, etc that we can use in all the elements of the wedding to bring a feeling of cohesiveness other than just color. Be it stripes, the simplicity of blocks of color, some kind of pattern, the impression of a particular decade....what do you guys think these colors are meant for??

It is late and I can't seem to remember this brides name...but she is doing a wine, vineyard theme. It is so creative all the things she is doing. With wine corks etc.

Those colors of yours remind me also of grapes or berries. The vineyard theme can be an inexpensive theme as you can hand harvest grape vines and accumulate them as time goes by. Berries or grapes can be hung... or be in large glass cylinders on your tables...or cascading down from natural tall curly sticks in a vase

I so love the hydrangea flowers and you could use those in a that color choice.

As for era...I see art deco in the colors. Kind of a modern stream lined design. Blacks or charcoals and chrome/silver accents and tailored tables. Tall silver candlesticks multi level heights...Some chrome deco picture frames as place setting markers. The BM dresses could be more of a flapper type design...and some old classic music. The floral arrangement of that time was somewhat avant guard...and modern with calla Lily and etc. You could really have some fun with invitations and STDs using old fonts. Maybe long strands of pearls displayed on table tops. Something with feathers too.

You could send your STD in the form of an old movie bill.

Black and White photo of the two of you...maybe your profile looking at each other...like an old publicity still.

The players: John Jones and Susie Cutie
The producers: Mr and Mrs James Cutie
Wrap Party: Dinner and Dance at the Supper Club 7pm til Midnight
Encore presentation: Brunch 11:00am Sunday Bistro grill

As I said it is late...these details aren't accurate in verbage...but you get the idea. if all this sounds nutts...chalk it up to it is late and not that I am crazy.

First thing that comes to mind upon seeing those dark, rich colors of navy and purple/wine is royalty! A crest of your own design perhaps could be the "theme", or just a kind and queen theme throughout. Love DKS''s idea of a wine theme as well.
