Getting my dream diamond (4.2 ct asscher)...sigh... snif...giggle...! Suffering from analyisis paralysis about how to have it set. Please give me suggestions (with photos!).
You might try posting your question over in the Rocky Talky forum... and it would help if you could give us some idea of what kind of setting you'd like... sleek and modern? Halo? Plain or paved or channel-set shoulders?... and/or what your budget is.
Something pretty simple. Want the center stone to be the star. My engagement ring/wedding ring is an eternity band of channel set princesses in platinum. Should I just do a solitaire setting? Couple of side stones (step cut trapezoids?)?
I had these pics saved on my PC. This is a 4.something K color Asscher ring that was on TrumpetandHorn dot com site. But I don't see it there now. I tend to like Asschers set in very plain settings that show off the pavilion of the stone.
A 4.2 ct asscher!! Holy mackerel! I can't wait to see it.
I think for step cuts getting the proportions right is absolutely essential. So if it were me I would only trust this to a few of the very top jewelers. Personally I'd go with Leon Mege because I think his proportions are brilliant and that his style (sleek, sexy) is perfect for step cuts. LM did Erica's asscher five stone that Sarahbear posted above.
Oh my goodness!!! I can't wait to see your diamond! Please post some pics of it unset. I agree with keeping it very simple, either a solitaire or traps/bullets. And so the sides show. I have a 1.11ct EC in a sholdt semi bezel and love looking at it from the side, you can see each indivdual step, it's really cool!
