Both of us have a lot of family living in a foreign country, including grandparents who don''t travel anymore and won''t be able to make the 15 hour trip to the wedding so we agreed a long time ago to have a big engagement party abroad. We are starting to plan this party and we are not even engaged--we already booked our flights for the end of April and we''re telling all our immediate family in the US about it so that they can buy tickets too.
So now he has a firm proposal deadline and our whole family knows about it--and they are even making plans around it. I have no idea when he''s actually going to do it and I don''t want him to feel too much pressure to ask in time to plan this party...then again, his aunt is doing all the planning so he''ll have to face her if he gives her a week to plan a party for 80 people.
I know we could have our party a few months after we get engaged but we the timing works well with our schedules.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or is anyone else in this situation?--maybe just with everyone around you knowing almost exactly when you''re getting engaged?

I might end up in a similar situation since my boyfriend and his family & friends are all in England and my family and friends are all in the US. We have no idea where or when we''ll be getting married, mostly because we haven''t figured out how to do it without offending half of everyone we care about.

As for your situation, since the flights are booked and everything, doesn''t seem worth worrying about. Everyone will be happy for you and having a great time! Should be a fantastic time, no?
