I love my new diamond ring so much, I'm looking into having some diamond drop earrings made. I'd like a setting similar to the one pictured below, with the diamonds close to the earlobes and what looks like a delicate wire. My lovely Whiteflash SA said she'd check to see if they have shorter leverbacks, but I'm wondering if I should be asking for a setting other than leverbacks. I'm still a jewelry newbie, so wondering if anyone has suggestions re how best to communicate. I did send this photo. (Of course, my diamonds will be smaller than Sandra Bullock's.) TIA

Those are obviously very beautiful earrings. However, I wouldn’t say they can be great at everyday wear. Diamond studs are the way to go, IMO.

I do agree that diamond studs are extremely versatile, and I love them on others. I have some, but studs don't look good on me. My ears don't stick out at all, so they don't show up. Drop earrings look better on me. I know in the photo I posted Sandra Bullock's wearing a gown, but this drop style will work with my everyday wardrobe. I'm just not sure how to get this setting - sitting closer to the earlobe, not the typical leverback.

Perhaps Sandra Bullock's diamonds are on French wires? (and maybe it's my imagination, but I think I'm seeing one of those little clear plastic tube "stops" near the end of the wire hook behind her ear on the right, her left)

They do look kind of like French wires. I wouldn't want to have to wear a plastic "stop" - I think it would detract from the look I'm going for. I just like how delicate the setting is - and I especially like how the diamonds sit closer to the earlobes.

what if you did something like that... those are diamond charms on tiny huggie hoops.
they are super close to the earlobe, but not studs

Sorry I can’t be more help in describing them — I’m a newbie too — but I did see a similar pair worn by Jennifer Aniston on season 1 episode 5 of ”The Morning Show”. They were big and bright and sparkly and distracting even in the darker scenes (referencing here in case anyone wanted to see the movement of this style of earring when worn). Here’s a screenshot from the episode: 3A13A8C6-8F19-48A0-8200-713BE83076F1.jpeg

Thank you, those definitely have the delicate and next-to-the-earlobe look I'm after. Not sure if the charms would be more casual than I was thinking.

Those are so gorgeous! That’s the look I’m after. Can you tell if the diamonds are dangling or stationary? I’m going to have to subscribe to Apple TV to watch this show.

To my eye, they were dangling — they twisted and flashed and sparkled with even small movements. But I could be wrong. In any case, I was pretty taken with them myself! She wears them for a good portion of the episode too, to make the subscription worth your while

Thank you! Now, if I can figure out where to get such a setting;)

Those eensy soft plastic stops need not stop you from considering French wires; they really can be a "secret." I push them up the wire to the back of my lobe, so they are in the same position as a post back would be, and they stay in place until I remove them.

Another thought: would you like the earrings to be able to accept interchangeable drops?
If that's not important to you, what would you think of post-back earrings with a short, fine chain in front that ends with the diamond drop? That way, you could have the length precisely as you wish & the diamond drops would have some movement.

You might like Dormeuse earrings - an antique version of your earring style. Not sure if you prefer old or new styles but this design has a long history!

Thank you. There's a pair of platinum and old cut diamond earrings there that definitely capture the setting design I'm thinking of. I do love vintage, but I think I want these earrings to have a more contemporary, pared down look kwim? btw, I love your profile pic.

Thank you! I think the setting on Jennifer Aniston above is just right. I'm just not sure where I could get a setting like that. My Whiteflash SA says they could get a shorter leverback, but the diamond would be stationary, not dangling. (This would be non-returnable, bc it's not part of their catalog. That's fine, but even more motivation to get it right.) I'm waiting to hear back re whether they could get a shorter leverback that would let the diamond dangle. I'm sure the right setting is out there:)

There is a little triangle that hinges up on the end of the wire. I can take a pic of it if you want.

OMG, those are gorgeous! I think they're very much like the Sandra Bullock earrings above. Thank you for posting pics. Do you mind my asking if you bought your diamonds from David Klass, as well, or did he just do the setting for you?

Omg these are incredible!!!

David did the settings, the "diamonds" were from Wink.

Thank you!

@Rhino has quite a selection of components and dangles...he may be able to whip up something custom for you.

Thanks, Deja. Do you know if he has a web site?

Hi! I think I know what you are saying bc I’m on the hunt for the same concept but w pearls. Here’s how I would like mine to sit and w a French Clip closure (no rubber attachment). This example is to show you how I’d like it to also hang close to the earlobe. AB24A01E-9117-480D-8615-FCD0C3B1715A.png

I have the same problem of ears being close to head. Hate when you see more of the basket than the stone. I have a local jeweler break the o-ring and reattach at an angle using a laser welder. You can see in this pic the loop that goes thru the piercing is at an extreme angle, but the dangles are front facing and fully visible.

Leon Mege has a video of drop earrings, I am trying to find it... that is the first thing I thought of!

Here are the earrings but the video I like is the one where he is bending the wire around the stones:
