Yes, I think drop earrings look better on me when they're closer to the earlobe. I love pearls, too. Are you planning to have pearls with a diamond halo?
I have the same problem of ears being close to head. Hate when you see more of the basket than the stone. I have a local jeweler break the o-ring and reattach at an angle using a laser welder. You can see in this pic the loop that goes thru the piercing is at an extreme angle, but the dangles are front facing and fully visible.
Found it! I wonder if I could spend a day there just watching. I could watch how jewelry is made all day.
I have wondered about this type of drop earring for a long time.
How do they not tip forward from the weight of the stone? Is that an issue when the stone is fixed in the setting and does not move? It tickles the back of my brain somewhere that @missy recommended having drop earrings always articulate at the end of the drop to avoid this problem, but maybe I imagined it.
Those are so gorgeous. They're a little above my budget, but they can serve as an inspiration
Thank you for the pic. Those look stunning on you! I hadn't considered a bezel, but now I'm thinking about it. I'll probably start with .40 carats in each year, and a bezel might make the diamond appear larger? I also like the look of the very small diamond above the large diamond. Do you mind sharing the carats of both diamonds?
Oh wow, those are STUNNING! I just love a bezel. They are the perfect size on you and look like they would be so versatile.
Do they tip forward when you wear them? As in, does the weight of the stones pull them down so you can’t see the stones? That’s my hesitation with this type of earring.
Thank you . I don't know exactly unfortunately, they're an heirloom and I never had them evaluated (need to do it at some point soon though), they measure around 7.5 mm, maybe 8 mm across, so I'm guessing around 3 carats (I've read that OECs face up smaller than modern rounds) and the little ones look like 2 pointers to me. They have visible inclusions but the size makes up for it .
Here is a very similar setting with smaller stones (must have been a popular design a century ago in my country ), stg. around 0.30-0.40 ct total carat weight. You definitely see more of the setting (also the bezel is much thicker than on the big ones) and less of the diamonds, but they still look sparkly ..
@swingtime -- I don't know how much movement you'd like the dropped diamonds to have, whether you'd like the diamond drops to "dance" or swing at least a little bit. But if you've not already seen it, here's the wonderful thread devoted to dangle earrings that @missy initiated 3 years ago; perhaps you'll find additional inspiration here:
Show me your dangle earrings pretty please!
@diamondseeker2006 asked me quite a while ago to share some of my favorite earrings and so here I am. Better late than never. While I love stud earrings on others they just don’t look good on me so all my earrings are dangle earrings. Most of them antique earrings but for the purpose of this...www.pricescope.com
Something like this?
6ctw dormeuse-style OEC double drops from Ivy & Rose and Sako
In 2019 I tried a once-in-a-lifetime pair of drops on at Lang in San Francisco - OECs, 3ct each, O-P, in platinum. Loved them (surprise surprise!) but the other half’s face spoke loudly and clearly: “Ain’t happening”. So I added Big OEC Drops to my One Day wishlist. - - - - - - - - - - - - - -...www.pricescope.com
