Occasionally I run across stuff that is just plain crazy in size or price, I think this takes the cake in both areas though! 407 carat fancy deep brownish yellow internally flawless diamond.

Wholesale at only $260,000 per carat :D

Personally if I was trying to sell that puppy I would use a good photographer, but that's just me :)

With a 407 carat IF stone, what's the loupe for?

I have to ask...at that size wouldn't someone think it was citrine? I ask because it doesn't look like it has a lot of facets to refract the light

Have I acquired a reputation for buying 407 ct FCDs?

I WISH!

None of my FCD is even 0.407 ct.

That's the Incomparable Diamond. You can google up the name if you want to know more ;)
I saw it in Paris years ago during a diamond expo in the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, along with the Indore Pears, the Aurora collection, the Eye of the Tiger, the 616 and so on. It was...fairly impressive to say the least!

I saw it in person too, and trust me, it does not look like a citrine. ;-)

It does look like an extremely extremely expensive paperweight though, which I would probably have to lock up in my safe with an armed guard near by. :-)

Yeah that's all it can be for... you can't even cover all of one facet with the loupe.

Yep it is the incomparable. I like the story about the cutter that did it. Though to be honest, I don't fancy the final shape that was the end result.

Very impressive FCD. At least it is much prettier than that opaque pear FCD posted a few days ago. Of course this one also has many more zeros at the end too.
