HI
I was wondering to know if I buy a non-certified rock and will insure it with insurance company in case of a loss how much resistance will i meet from any given jeweler to get a replacement rock with the same qualities (1/2 c vvs1 E color ideal cut ). I am aware that they will try to match is but there is a margin allowed and also I can refused jewelers offer and go to the next one.

thanks

How do you know it has all those "ideal" specs (ideal cut, high color, near flawless...) if it isn't certified? Honestly if it's that "good", I'd get it to GIA ASAP to have all those parameters verified.

Probably a good detailed appraisal from an appraiser who can measure the angles, etc. would be enough "proof." There are many estate diamonds floating around that have just a jeweler's appraisal and that's sufficient to get them insured. But if you are fighting with insurance over what constitutes a suitable replacement or replacement value, then more detail and a bigger name is better to have.

How do you know it is ideal cut and E VVS1?
