Diamond search - need asap

Outstanding choices for the diamond and setting!
Please let us know your thoughts and impressions of the optics when you get it...and your SO's initial reaction and thoughts when it's presented!

I’m curious what you all think and would rather buy for a round diamond at the same price.

1.0 carat D IF
1.5 carat H SI1

I would personally pick the 1.5 H SI1.

I would personally pick the 1.5 H SI1.

Me too in a heartbeat. IF cant be seen to the naked eye versus an eye clean SI1, so that holds zero value to me personally. And I'm not color sensitive, so a super ideal H will likely look similar to a super ideal D **to me**.

1.5 for me. Size is much more visible than color and clarity. Some people are very color sensitive though and would go with the D.

1.5 all day long.

LOL, you have to consider WHERE you asked this question. PS is the equivalent to a crack house for diamond junkies. 9x out of 10, more carats is going to win the debate.

But I will buck the grain and say neither. My wife's stone is BGD H&A H/VS2 and if we were to upgrade or replace I'd be targeting a D-F with VS2 or VS1 clarity, possibly SI1 depending on specifics.

There really isn't a "best" answer here. It depends on many factors, but mostly what you and yours feel is the best combo of all the C's and your budget combined.

Thank you all for your feedbacks and help. Very much appreciated.

I am super excited for you! While we may debate small nuances, the simple truth is any of those diamonds are absolutely killer! The even better part is they are all AGS 000 H&A perfection! The icing on the cake is you chose a top tier vendor who will make it a first class experience. And later down the road, if you need or want to swap the diamond for something bigger, whiter or whatever you have an absolutely fantastic trade program that requires no hoops for you to jump through. Simply pick a new stone of equal or greater value and pay the difference.

You did equally as well picking the setting and a Vatche at that. Really exceptional choices that are sure to exceed all expectations. Job well done, please post back pics once you’ve received. :cool2:

And although not mentioned yet you have another perk — WF offers a trade up program on their designer settings also. You get 50% trade value on the setting. Not quite as sweet as the diamond portion but to my knowledge no one offers this perk besides WF. Also while going larger may facilitate the need for a new setting, a new diamond isn’t required. You could trade settings if you simply want to change looks/style.

In what may be a first in the jewelry industry, Designer Engagement Rings have been added to our Trade Up Benefit. Purchasers of designer rings who upgrade their diamonds may not be able to use the same setting, especially when changing the size or shape of the center diamond. This benefit is to help facilitate that process and make it less costly for the customer to execute an upgrade. However, it is not necessary to upgrade your center diamond in order to take advantage of our Designer Engagement Ring benefit.

All engagement rings from the collections of our designer partners Tacori, Verragio, Simon G, Ritani, A.Jaffe, Danhov, Vatche, Valoria, and Benchmark are eligible for trade up to any other single designer engagement ring of this group of designers that is equal to or greater in value. 50% of the original sale price for the item will be credited toward the new purchase.

What are the steps you guys normally do when you receive your diamond ring? Is inspecting the inscription number enough? Do you have it independently inspected? Do you buy insurance for it?

I trust WF but I think it's always a good to check the stone so you have peace of mind. My preference is to check both the inscription on the girdle and to also trace out the inclusions.

A standard 10x loupe can be used to trace out the inclusions; however, the inscription will likely need a 20x+ loupe. Also, if you are looking at it AFTER the stone is set, it's possible that a prong partially covers the inscription (this is the case with my wife's BGD stone).

I always have my large purchases checked out by an independent appraiser. Please do insure the ring. Just for your peace of mind.

Received the ring, let me know what you all think.

Looks great!

Stunning! You can't beat an ACA!

Congratulations! My heart went a-flutter at the sight of it!

Total freakin’ sparkle bomb!!! Absolutely love it.

How do you feel about it? Has it met your expectations and desires of a kick a$$ ring?

I love it! It sparkles like crazy. I was initially worried about the H color and so glad I went bigger in size. I can’t really tell the color since it sparkles so much. For SI1 clarity I think I would go up next time, seems like I can see reflections of the inclusions and blurriness at some angles. Is it just me or you all see that too.

Regarding appraisal, I found an independent certified diamond appraiser (GIA graduated) is asking for $375 flat rate. Is this appraiser okay or I need to find an American Gem Society’s Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA) or an Independent Certified Gemologist Appraiser (ICGA)?

Thank you all for your help and kind words. Vey much appreciated. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

@GeminiGuy I definitely don’t see inclusions on your photos. Per usual, I defer to all the PS expert eyes here.

For good measure, I went back to your stone’s WF page and didn’t see any inclusions on the brilliance setting. Sparkle setting is too blinding for an inclusion search - lol!

You could take another look at the website videos and see if you can spot what you’re seeing IRL.

Are you looking for a written appraisal for insurance? Or, just a double check the stone is correct?
