Diamond shopping help!

Hi all,

My first post. I''m current shopping for an engagement ring. We found the setting she loves it''s a Scott Kay, and she wants a princess cut. The more I''m reading about diamonds the more I''m confused. My budget for the stone in $6500. She would like something in the 1.3 to 1.5 range, but I feel with my budget we will be sacrificing quality for size. Any ideas on what I should be looking for. We went to Jared, but I felt like i was getting a sales job.

Maybe contact Pearlman's Jewelers, ask for an AGS 0 princess and the SK setting. You can see AGS 0 stones at Jared, they are called "Peerless" diamonds.

1.5 is a stretch on that budget. Did you look at different color grades?

I think you will not hit 1.5 for your budget, but can get over a carat for sure. Ditto Pearlman`s as a good option.

Ditto the ladies....Your budget would get a nice 1 carat/ just over 1 carat stone of excellent cut and quality but its going to be challenging finding one much larger unless you would consider SI clarity and I or J colour, if so then it might be doable.

I found this diamond if you would consider a J colour. Its not cut to top standards, it is slightly rectangular and it doesn't have an upgrade policy but it would get you extra size for the money and it is a well cut stone.
