I bought 2.05 carat round studs a year ago from what I thought was a reputable dealer in NYC

Stones are (according to appraisal) I-J color S1 quality ... I have had almost 12 other jewelers look at these and qualify them as not matching two different colors (each stone) and I1. I am so upset and now want to upgrade my stones to better quality, cut and color.

What are your suggestions should I stay the same size just get better cut and color or should I go up a size. I am already 7,500 into these studs and don't know how my money should be spent.

I have the studs to trade in and an additional 3,500 to spend what is your opinion

Sorry to hear about your expeience. I would stay with the same size and get a pair of matched stones. Would get a Gia certification. Who is the jeweler in ny that you bought the diamonds from?
Good luck!

he owns a building on 47th street in NYC. I have known him for years and had my eternity band made by him as well as upgraded my originial studs from 1.80 to 2.05 from him. I know you get what you paid for but looking at the diamond pricing sheets on the internet what I have paid is in the range for S1 quality matching stones. I looked at 2 dozen pairs before I selected the ones I bought. Also, if the appraisal says si it should be correcct. I know sometimes jewelers embellish the appraisal for insurance replacement but i thought that should only be the $$$ amount not the specs on the stones. I am disappointed and I don't think I'll go back to him
