diamond stud earrings or very nice watch?

so woudl you get first if you dont have either? originally i wanted to get a pair of studs for my bday, currently i dont have any small earrings like that an di wanted something that i can wear everyday to work. but just the other day i saw a watch that also look very nice, prices are about the same as the earrings. which ones to get first?

That''s a beautiful watch. I would go for diamond studs though just because I never wear a watch - I like bracelets. I will be anxious to see what you get.

I''d have to agree with hlmr. Personally, I''ve never seen the point of luxury watches, since just about any watch will keep time. I would go for the sparkle and get the earrings. But, a Rolex, hmmmmm, that would be awfully nice.

But I can get it for cheaper than this price. I was never a big Rolex fan but when I tried this on it looks so cute and sparkly!

The earrings would just be diamond studs.

I''d purchase earrings rather than the watch, but I''m not a fan of watches and look at my cell phone whenever I need to know the time. . .

For the approx. budget it looks like you have, you will be able to get some fairly substantial studs!

Original budget was 4000 for the earrings. I can get this watch for under 6,000 at another shop, but it''s definitely over my budget. Practically speaking I think i''ll wear the earrings more coz somedays I just dont like to wear a watch. Dilemma!
 
I'd for sure get earrings with that budget. You can get a really nice watch for $1500 to $2500. You're paying a lot for the name with Rolex. Of course, I'd like to have one! But given your question, I'd have to say go for the studs and get a less expensive watch later.

If it was me, I would do both, spend 2- 2500 on a watch and use the rest for studs, but that might not be the right thing for you. But go with what your heart tells you!
 
I''d get earrings if it were me, but you sound a lot more excited about the watch. I also agree that you could get smaller earrings now and put the rest of your money into savings while you search for either the perfect watch or save more money for the Rolex that you already found.

That''s a tough one. I''m lusting over a watch myself right now! However, I think that any watch you buy, you might get tired of the look eventually, while with diamond earrings, they are a classic forever kind of thing. If you''re getting studs, you can always add to them later by accessorizing with jackets. Or, depending on where you buy them, upgrade them. I doubt you''d ever really get tired of them. JMO of course!

I would get the watch! I can''t see earrings once they are in my ears (unless I look in the mirror), but that watch.......I could look at it all day long!
 
Watches and earrings are both nice and in my opinion both staples for every jewelry wardrobe. I love Rolex watches (own two). They are very well made, durable for everyday wear, and quite attractive. However they are mechanical and need to be worn daily or you have to wind them. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind. It is something you can see on your wrist and admire for yourself which is nice. On the other hand diamond stud earrings are gorgeous and sparkly and such a classic. No bad choices here. Let us know what you decide.
 
Very hard choice!Both are pieces that are staples in any serious jewelry wardrobe!The earrings can be worn 24/7 but the rolex is a very fine timepiece and i have enjoyed the two that i have owned over the years...i would plan to get both...when the best deal presents itself get that one first.Please be careful about what avenue you choose to find a rolex...there are alot of good replicas out there and many rolexs on the pre-owned market that are overpriced...good luck on adding to your jewelry collection.

Thanks for all the input everyone, I am still deciding at the moment, Anne h: I actually live in Asia, and some shops offer Rolexes that are cheaper than the US retail price. The particular shop I am interested in is a pretty reputable shop, and a listed company, so I feel safe buying from them.

Sundial and Jewelerman, do you mind telling me which Rolex you have? do you think the one that I choose would be too much to wear at the office on a daily basis? Dont want something too flashy.

Actually I have the same Lady Datejust that you are considering only mine is two-tone yellow gold and steel and it has a champagne (gold) colored dial with the diamond hour markers. I wore mine to work at the office and I do not think it is too flashy at all. In my opinion that is a classic Rolex design. My new Rolex is the larger midsize (easier for my ageing eyes to read) in all steel with the oyster bracelet, smooth bezel, no diamonds, and a pink dial. I was just ready for a change, but I love them both!
 
I got the diamond studs before the watch, but I could have gone either way. I have almost the same Rolex as you are thinking of getting, and it''s a beautiful watch. I don''t think it''s too much to wear to the office either. Post pics when you get it!
 
So hard to decide. I ended up getting my Rolex first though. I LOVE it and I wear it doing everything. However, I wouldn''t buy from anywhere other than an authorized dealer though. And here''s why:

Rolex sells it product to a list of authorized dealers. They do absolutely NO internet sales and there are NO internet authorized dealers. So ask yourself, what fo you get from online vendors/ non-authorized sellers, since they obviously can not get that watch directly from Rolex? Also, no Rolex authoriezed Jeweler that worked hard to establish his account, is going to help out his "non-authorized" Jeweler buddy and give him a couple of Rolex''s at cost to sell. I''ve heard this line before, but Rolex will shut down any authorized dealer that participates in this activity and I can''t imagine why any reputable store would risk this.
..What you get online is either, Couterfiet, Aftermarket, or Used. If you need more proof, go the the Rolex website, call their customer service number, and ask them.

Missrocks isn't the midsize just the perfect watch? I have seen your exact Rolex in the Lady Datejust size at my local AD and it is drop dead gorgeous! Isn't it amazing how neutral pink really is?

Just to the confuse the issue, I''ll tell you what I actually did.

I got myself a Rolex [steel and gold] back in 1982. I did not have diamond studs [except for a teeny pair - I think .25 carat tw] at the time. I had been lusting over that model Rolex [Oyster Perpetual Date with a gold face] for a few years. I saw it in a shop in Bermuda and bought it on the spot [at a better price than the in US even with the duty I had to pay to bring it back in]! I don''t regret it. I wore it on a daily basis until I got my Chopard a couple of years ago. I still wear it when I want a smaller watch on my wrist and it is 25 years later.

Go for the watch. Get the studs later. At least with the watch you will be able to look at it and enjoy it. It is kinda tough to admire studs unless you take them off or look in a mirror.

I definetly vote for the watch! That is such a classic style, and I love the sparkli-ness of the white gold fluted bezel and the diamond markers! It will go with everything.

FYI, the last substancial price increase Rolex did was Fall 2006.
...and now that gold just hit over 900 an oz. ...an all time HIGH. Plus the fact that they use pallladium as an alloy in their white gold, and platinum as an alloy in their rose gold, and those metals aren't getting any cheaper. I would expect that they will do a price increase on their product sometime this year.
 
Thanks for all the responses ladies, and all the "thread-jacks" are really turning into great informational posts about Rolex, which is what I need when considering my purchase decision. Now I''m seriously leaning toward the watch, and for the exact reason you guys mentioned --- I''d love to look at the bling as I type on my keyboard lol.

I think now it just comes down to my budget, the watch is a couple of grand more than the earrings. I''ll make a decision within this month and keep you guys posted with pictures! Meanwhile if there is any more inputs or information/experiences with stud earrings or Rolex, please feel free to "thread-jack"!
 
I have a two-tone date size with blue dial...like the one pictures above with out diamonds...and i really like the one you have in mind...good luck.

I was debating between the grey or the white dial, and I''m leaning toward the jubilee bracelet. why did you ended up getting the earrings first? i know you said it could''ve gone either way but just wondering what made you getting the studs first instead. and how long did you wait in between the two purchases? thanks!
