Diamond wedding band eating into engagement ring prongs

My platinum engagement ring prongs are showing indentations where the diamonds from my wedding band are rubbing against the prongs. I've probably worn them together for a year total. Given I have a basket setting, I think/hope the diamond will still be secure.

I've started to alternate wearing a 7 stone ring. Any thoughts around the long term durability of my engagement ring prongs, and if I'll need to redo the setting in the future? Would it just stay as is with the indentations or likely wear further? I'd prefer not to re-set it as I'm very sentimental.

I don't like the physical feeling of adding a spacer and would like to keep my rings separate (vs. soldering them together). My best solution (seems) to be wearing my engagement and wedding rings together less frequently to reduce the amount of rubbing. Maybe this is an excuse to get alternate rings!

I'd never wear two separate rings next to each other.
IMO that's asking for eventual trouble.
I don't care if a hundred posters past thata they do it with no issues.
I'm not a risk taker with important things.

If I had to wear them both one would be on the other hand or worn on a necklace chain.

If I absolutely had to have them on the same finger, I have them soldered together so they were, effectively, one ring and couldn't harm each other.

They will eventually cut through or loosen the prongs. If you plan to never reset or redo the prongs, I’d plan to wear your diamond band on another hand.

44 years experience.
I doubt it will ever get far enough through to cause a weakness.
It is not upsetting the prongs up top.
Just keep an eye on it. Use your phone camera as a magnifyer.
from this not best angle it looks like it is maybe 1/8th the way thru - if it gets half way then have the setting built up from inside and live with the grooves.

WARNING TO ALL - shared prong settings are chain saws.

in this case it will stop when the sides of the band start rubbing on the E ring band.
The way Tiffany make theirs is criminal - the diamonds stick out way much further.

Thank you so much for your feedback and advice! Yes, it does look like it's about 1/8 of the way through. I'm hoping it won't go much further.

My wife had the same problem so I bought her a 2mm spacer ring, problem solved, but then when I changed her Ering setting her 5 stone band was again rubbing against her new Ering prong even with the 2mm spacer in between, so now she just wear her Ering by itself.

Hi DF - this ring has the diamonds almost flush - they don't stick out much so the wear will stop soon.
