I just bought a ring and inside the band is engraved .78 TWE. I am assuming the .78 is the weight of the diamonds, and the "E" the color? are only good quality diamonds engraved this way? any info would be appreciated

Welcome!

To the best of my knowledge, any ring can be engraved with anything - regardless of quality, in this case it is probably that the .78 is to note the total carat weight of the diamonds, I am not sure if E means the colour here....Is this one diamond as a centre stone, or lots of smaller ones, or a centre stone and small diamonds flanking it?

The TWE is probably the maker''s mark, but the .78 is most likely the carat weight, I have a ring with a similar engraving.

I have seen such engraving stand for ''Total Weight Estimated". Depending on how distant the "E" is from the "TW" could mean that "E" is the maker''s trademark. Without knowing the item and the maker, it would be difficult to do more than speculate.
