I suppose you might have some leverage if you have another appraisal saying it is lower than represented, so make SURE they understand that you are not happy with the diamond and want the appraisal to try to get the jeweler to take it back IF it is not represented. You definitely do not want the typical feel good inflated appraisal!!! Are you in or near a big city? It would be good if you could use a trusted independed appraiser.
When was the ring purchased and when was the return period up? Do you know for sure that there even was a return period?
Please do not attempt to look at stones yet. If you are able to return it, we can list excellent cut stones for you that will be worth buying, I promise. Blue Nile is not the best place to look because there are no pictures of the stones and they don't do idealscope images.
