Difference between BGD Signature and Select?

What is the main difference between BGD Signature and Select stones? Besides the fact that you cannot trade up on Select stones? I'm looking to upgrade my studs from them and am not sure if I should include Select stones in my search. I doubt I will ever upgrade them again so the upgrade policy isn't really a deal breaker for me. I'm looking to get sparkly earrings as big as my budget will allow.

BGD Signature is guaranteed to have hearts and arrows. BGD Blue does not guarantee H&A but they are cut to the same standards as Signature stones. BGD Signature and Blues are held in-house. BGD Selects are not in-house.

I would think that Select stones are fine for studs.
