Hello All,
My boyfriend and I have been looking at e rings for a couple of weeks now. When on a trip to Vegas we happened to come across a store called Graff. The diamonds in the windows were amazing

however we did not get an opportunity to go in and look. I went on their website to get more info on the company and to find out about their diamonds. On the website it states that it will come with the AGS certificate and the laser inscribed logo. My question is does Graff just sell AGS/GIA diamonds and I am just paying for the logo? or is it like Tiffany where they have their own labs and certs? Same question for Cartier. Thank you for reading my post and any info and or feedback will be appreciated. Currently, the ring that stands out during our search was a Tiffany .86 ct F VVS2 classic setting with diamonds in the band for around 12k.. Is this a good price? Thanks again for letting me ramble on...

well as everyone here knows we have no beef with any of those brands except their prices........that seems very high for less than a carat......... however i do that all of those stores only have stones certed by those two labs and come with their own appraisals and documentation. unless you are getting something rare--like a super large stone (diamondfan) or a colored diamond etc OR a very unique mounting--I am not sure I would spend the money there. In my opinion only

thank you for your reply. So, are you saying that Tiffany has AGS/GIA graded stones? I thought they used their own labs?

All Tiffany stones come with a Tiffany grading report.

All Tiffany stones in excess of a carat are GIA graded, as well as having the Tiffany report. Not sure about AGS.

thank you for the clarification

I''ve read on this forum, but don''t know from personal experience, that people feel that Tiffany grades as strictly or even more strictly than GIA. As to whether the ring you like "is a good price," well, obviously there is quite a premium attached to the ring because it is from Tiffany. Tiffany has fans and detractors on this forum, with the two lines of thought being

1) "I won''t pay a premium for name when I can get the same quality diamond for 30% less" and
2) "I love it and I''m willing to pay the premium for the Tiffany ring"

If you bought a similar diamond and setting somewhere else it would cost a lot less. If you''ve received great service from Tiffany and the ring you love isn''t available elsewhere, and you don''t mind paying the premium, go for it.

While shopping I did go to other stores such as Christian Bernand, Jareds, BBB, etc... I was looking for ideal cut stones and to my surprise IMO Tiffany was not that much more extreme in pricing as the others. As far as the diamonds on the net, lets take this one for example.

There was also one at Tiffanys with the same specs for 14k. Thats about 2k more, but it came with 5 rb on each side of the band with F VS2 diamonds. I think that if I try to get the same setting it will come pretty close to the price at Tiffanys. I dont mind paying a "little" extra for the name, so i guess I am #2

Hi! If you''re looking for a fancy colored diamond, Graff has the biggest selection. You can''t go wrong buying from any of those 3 stores.

Based on my recent experience of designing/buying a ring in this style, I''d say that the Tiffany price is about a 40% mark up over what the price would be without the Tiffany blue box. On the flip side, the Tiffany ring is beautiful, and it is easy to buy in that you don''t have to do a whole lot of work or research in order to make the purchase.
