Everyone is so helpful ,thank you so much!!! I think I will speak with my jeweler, and if something could be done about the head (raising it higher) relatively painlessly, then maybe I will go fo it. I just dont think that is going to happen, considering all of the pave under the basket, etc.

If that is the case, I will probably switch the er to my righ hand, and get 2 bands for my left- one plain one to match FI''s (for work, etc.- I am a nurse), and one diamond eternity band to wear on other days. I like that idea, but I did want to be able to wear both the er and wr together without it looking funny....

Dani I totally understand how you feel!! My DH picked out my ring without any help and when I first saw it I fell completely in love with it, that is until we began the search for w-rings, as you can see finding a ring would be impossible! I ended up completely giving up and not getting a w-ring, I just got to frustrated, I have to admit I regret it! I hope you are able to find something that makes you happy!! And maybe I can find an answer too, I haven''t completely given up ;)

Boy does this thread hit home. I totally second (or third!) what Mara said, "i wish that jewelers and custom designers etc would bring up the wedding ring when designing or working on the e-ring. it seems like so many people don''t think about the additional ring they will be adding and then encounter this very problem!" This is totally what happened to me with my first setting too. Some folks suggested the curved band with diamonds to match my side diamonds on my setting, but I hated that idea because we would waste lots of money on a ring that I didn''t want to wear alone. I love a nice diamond wedding band, such as so many girls on this site have (eternity etc..), but didn''t want one with a curve, because I knew I would want to wear it alone at times. And I didn''t want to buy two, one w/ curve; one w/out! Plus a lot of times it does seem to ruin the look of the e-ring. (although there are some beautiful examples on this thread of ones that work well, such as Peachy''s and others''.)

If I had fallen in love with my original setting, I would have kept it, and maybe worn it on the right, alone, or even on the left, alone (while still getting a wedding ring; just not to wear with it at the same time). Wendi, your ring is gorgeous and I think it looks beautiful alone. Anyway, in the end this issue made my search SO MUCH more complicated, and I wound up with something totally not what I intended. So I wish I could scream to all jewelers to pay attention to this and point it out to those buying e-rings!!

Dani, if you love your ring, either look for the curved band like others suggested, if you like that idea, or else you could wear it alone but still get another wedding band to wear alone also, or wear your e-ring on the right, or vice-versa. (I also found out after the wedding that in Europe, they wear their wedding bands on the right hand.)

Sorry about your dilemma. I hope you find something that works but yes......
PLEASE post some pics of that pave basket!!

Wendi- your ring is amazing. Unfortunately, us ladies with ec''s are at a disadvantage because of the shape of our center stone- it just jets out too much. Unless it is set ridiculously high (which I dont like), it will not sit flush with a w-band.

At this point, I think I either will just let the whole "flush" thing go and just get a thin w-band to sit with my e-ring, or switch the e-ring to my right, and get an eternity band to wear alone on my left. There is just nothing else I could do. I am not switching my whole setting, which I am in love with, it is just not feasible.

I promise, I will post more pics of my ring as soon as I can. FI has the camera at his apt- I will get it this weekend!!!!

I for one like the look of a wedding band and e-ring not being ''flush'' to each other. But I have a round center stone, so it''s not a long as an emerald cut it.

Your e-ring is very pretty, I hope you can find a wedding band that works and that you love.

JCJD - thanks for posting my pic!

I understand, to each his own, but i absolutely LOVE my curved band. One of my favorite things about it, is wearing it by itself because it has such a differnt look to it. Majority of the time i do wear it with my ering, but i would say at least once a month i wear it by itself. Below is the best pic i have with me at work of it alone. I thought about getting a plain band to wear by itself, but never did.

lovelylulu - Im trying to find a picture for you... its harder than you think!

THIS is one kind

there is another where the band goes below the center stone of the e-ring entirely (it has a thin part there).

I think you can get an idea from these. The band is either notched to go around the diamond, or underneath it.

thanks val and njc. i think that might be a great solution for me.

I completely agree that jewelers should do a better job of educating buyers when it comes to a wedding set. Most women never consider the wedding ring when picking out their dream e-ring, and I''d bet nearly all men would have no idea to ask either.

Here''s my gap. I was disappointed when I first put them together, I''ve actually gotten used to the gap enough to like it. It now reminds me of a split shank ring---a design I''ve always liked. I apologize for the fuzziness of the ring, but you can clearly see what the gap looks like.
