Hi Everyone,
Introducing my new wedding set. Stats below and more context on the journey and experience to follow.
1.86 EVS1 Lab grown old mine brilliant from Distinctive Gem.
7.64 x 7.16 x 4.89 mm
I worked with Jonathan to stretch to a slightly rectangular proportion to give it a more cushiony appearance without distorting the optics. It turned out beautifully. This is an incredible stone.
The setting and matching pave band are by Steven Kirsch and the workmanship is simply perfection. He created my original wedding eternity band. You can see from the first picture below that even after 8 years of almost daily wear not a single prong has moved. The setting is based on the “Amore” design but with diamonds added to the basket. The height and donut allow the stone to be set relatively low with a small gap.

Steven recommended single cut melee in keeping with the stone, and I love the choice.
For folks wanting to hear the longer story, I’ve been following Jonathan’s custom lab grown stones for some time, along with the broader growth in lab grown diamonds. Many people would likely disagree with this but for the past couple of years I considered selling my mined engagement ring along with a few other items as my taste has changed to switch to a custom cut lab grown stone. The mind component of a mined stone isn’t meaningful to me, and I appreciate the lab component as a scientist by trade. I sat on this decision for about two years before deciding to consign my jewelry at GOG (see listings here) and reach out to Jonathan and Steven.
While the decision may not be right for everyone, I have absolutely no regrets. I’m beyond thrilled with how the set turned out and in awe of the beauty, craftsmanship, and light performance. I also had a wonderful experience working with both Jonathan and Steven and am grateful for the very best attention to detail, quality, and service.
