Do you eat breakfast?

I'd be dead before noon if I tried skipping breakfast - and given how cranky I am when I'm hungry, I'd probably take out a city block first.

A typical morning for me these days is two or three eggs and some toast, or a bagel and an apple, or something: back before I had the appetite of Gojira, it would be an apple and cheese and a yogurt, or the like.

I usually dont eat a big breakfast but I've been starving lately...so this morning 2 eggs and a piece of toast. We'll see if it
holds me off till lunch!

I eat breakfast every day. Generally eggs, ham, V8 juice, coffee and a bit of fruit.

I have skipped breakfast only once, one day about 30 years ago when I was at a professional meeting and my roommate suggested it. My stomach growled so loudly and I nearly passed out before lunch. Never again.

Usually just a skim latte (I make at home). I don't like to eat first thing in the morning, but I find that the protein in the milk makes a big difference in how much I eat later in the day compared to just plain coffee.

I am very impressed by those who prepare a "real" breakfast every day!

Monday-Friday I have either organic steel cut oatmeal or organic high fiber cereal for breakfast, along with tea.

Saturday and Sunday DH makes homemade hashbrowns with over easy eggs (1 for me, 2 for him) and turkey bacon, and I have coffee with a touch of kahlua.

I'm pretty sure I would be a cranky hungry mess without breakfast every morning...

Yes, blueberry Green tea for bev and Steel cut Oatmeal everyday!!!

Haha, Skippy! It's quick, easy, and delish! I add brown sugar and dried cranberries to mine, and if I'm feeling indulgent, a splash of organic, grass-fed half and half. YUM!

As for the weekend meal...just ask princesss about the hashbrowns. She got a taste when she came for our wedding reception! I could eat his hashbrowns all day, every day, at every meal. They're that good. :lickout:

Nice and wholesome-sounds good Skippy!

I eat breakfast everyday, but I have to force myself. I eat half a bagel with Fage every morning with like 3 cups of coffee. It takes me an hour to eat that bagel sometimes-just not in the mood in the morning!

It can be tough to eat sometimes! yum to fage; I use to do fage but since my time is limited in the mornings oatmeal is pretty substantial and keeps me going. hehe I love chewy warm bagels!!! do you get the TJ's ones? I get the TJ's oatmeal. Mcsomething or other!

Yes! I get the TJ's cinnamon raisin bagels. I like their oatmeal too. You need breakfast way more than I do-with your schedule! I'm a night eater-consume like 80% of my calories at night, which is probably bad, but I can't help it!

I'm convinced that fairies come and sprinkle something on the potatoes at night. Their hashbrowns are in my list of top 5 things I've ever eaten. (And the best part is when you ask what you can do to help, the answer is, "Just stay out of the kitchen." No problem-o!)

And to answer the original question, I cannot skip breakfast. Friday is bagel day at work and I have a hard enough time making it to work without breakfast - I can't imagine going straight through until lunch! I'm a horrible, cranky, mean person to be around when I'm hungry, and I always wake up starving!

Latte and Danish every morning.

The wedding is over and I no longer have to fit in my size 4 dress. So it's back to size 6 for me, which means I can eat whatever the heck I like.

Fave Danish: maple and pecan plait. Yummy!!! :cheeky:

princess, I just snorted. And A just cracked up at the thought of fairies in our kitchen. I take absolutely no credit for the hashbrowns...they're ALL DH. I think the three secrets are: 1) Using a well-seasoned cast iron skillet (they get better every time this way!). 2) Using redskin potatoes. They have the right combination of substance and sweetness. DH also meticulously cuts them so they're uniform in size so cooking is consistent, and he adds onions and red bell pepper a little later in cooking so they both maintain a bit of crisp. And 3) adding a teensy splash of vinegar during cooking.

Oh, and thank you for the lovely compliment about the wedding pictures! I love looking back at both the pro pics and the friend pics and thinking about how happy and blessed we are!

Every morning I have a cup of tea and if I get up early enough I have wheetabix with a banana. If I'm in a hurry, I just grab the banana. I know I should get up earlier so I can have breakfast but I'm not a morning person at all.

I usually have breakfast but it's really hard to eat first thing in the morning. I usually wait to eat until about 30 min. to an hour after I'm ready for work. Sometimes I make cereal or oatmeal and fruit before leaving for work, other times I grab a bagel on the way. During the weekends, we make scrambled eggs or omelets usually, unless we go out for breakfast.

I love love love traditional breakfast foods, but rarely eat them at breakfast time. Both because I'm generally not hungry and because I would rather sleep longer than take the time to eat. Sometimes I go through phases where I want breakfast, but it is never consistent. When I had an office I kept a box of cereal there and would sometimes eat that after being awake for some time...I'll probably do that again when I start back to work.

Nearly always, either peanut butter on whole wheat toast with grapefruit or orange juice, or a bowl of cereal. I can't eat right away if I wake up really, really early or am anticipating something (going to the airport, for instance) but I get ravenous if I don't eat anything. I can go a really long time between breakfast and lunch, sometimes 6 hours or more, before I get hungry again.

I haven't had the cinnamon raisin! I love raisin bread so I will have to try it!!!

VC, my hubby says a well seasoned cast iron pan makes everything taste good, so it must be true if that is key to your hashbrowns! Now I am craving them! off to finish my oatmeal. thanks for the recipe! ::)

Zoe, me too -- I have to wait a minimum of an hour after getting up to put anything in my stomach, otherwise the day is just a gastrointestinal disaster. I never have that much time at home in the mornings, but fortunately my job is pretty chill. I keep oatmeal in the office (a mix of quick oats and old-fashioned rolled oats, which reconstitutes well with just boiling water but also has some texture and more nutrients) and make a bowl of that with a cup of coffee when I get there. On weekends, we usually do brunch.

Nope.

The only time I'll ever have breakfast is if I'm staying in a hotel and then I will feel crap for most of the day - and I'll be wanting to snack mid-morning (in general I don't eat between meals) and then starving by lunch-time, whereas without breakfast I'm only slightly hungry by lunchtime when I'll have something light. Dinner is my meal of choice.

My parents used to try and insist on breakfast when I was a kid - I gave it up once I went to boarding school at 13 and that was that.

DH doesn't eat breakfast either, so it's going to be interesting as to what we do once our daughter starts school as it just doesn't feature on our daily morning schedule (do they do breakfast at school? :read: ).

Yes, everyday! It's always the last thing I do before leaving for work because I don't like eating when I first get up.

It's usually natural "alpine" musili (just nuts and grains and seeds and dried fruit, un-toasted) with soy milk
Or
Porridge make with water, un-sweetened and with soy milk
Or
Wholegrain toast with natural peanut butter (mushed up peantuts + Oil- no added salt or sugar)
Or
1x tomatoe and a handfull of mushrooms, sliced and fried with 1st oil on wholegrain toast
Or
Soft boiled eggs and whole grain toast to dip

If I get hungry I get really pissed off too so I avoid getting too hungry at work. If I didn't eat breakfast I'd be STARVING by 11am and possibly loosing it at innocent members of the public.

No. I usually forget to eat but I drink two cups of very strong coffee.

I usually have something right before I leave for work in the morning (like cereal or a toaster strudel), but I'm usually not hungry enough then, so I don't eat much - and then I end up starving halfway through the morning. I just make sure that I have lots of light snacks with me at work, so I can eat little bits here and there if I start getting hungry. This has always been my routine though, because my blood sugar level tends to drop really easily, so I'm used to carrying snacks around.

I run out of the house about 15 min after I wake up and it takes me about an hour to get to work and park. Once I'm at work I have a black iced coffee and a greek yogurt with fruit. The greek yogurt is very filling and holds me over until snack about 3 hours later. I have been working on pacing out my days with smaller meals with snacks in between so I don't starve and over do it.

HI:

Oatmeal doesn't fill me up. Ever. Same experience with a colleague of mine--we were talking about what we needed for breakfast to get thru our day and Oatmeal was low on the list! Red River does a better job, but (all) protein tends to be the best for me.

cheers--Sharon

Nope. Generally, I don't eat before 1 or 2. I love breakfast foods though, and we eat it usually twice a week for dinner.

I eat breakfast spread out over 4 hours.

I have a piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter or melted cheese in around 6:30AM, then around 9, it's coffee and fruit, and 10:30 I have my protein shake.

I never ate breakfast until a month or so ago. I started because my morning runs or yoga class left me feeling weak after. :knockout: Now I usually have either a soy milk and banana smoothie, or fat free Greek yogurt with a banana and granola.
