Do you feel your kitchen appliances must be the same brand name?

All of my appliances are white as I don''t care for stainless steel. And most are the same brand I have stuck with over the years because they have served me well. But for refrigerators I am loyal to another brand and chose it again when I replaced my 18 year old fridge.

Sharon - We have had issues with the refrigerator (many times) and the stove. The mini refrigerator has been fine, and so has the dishwasher. But when Viking breaks, not everyone can fix it. I guess they are complicated. And really expensive to fix. But I can''t imagine my kitchen without them, so I would still pick it again - problems and all

those merlot appliances are gorgeous with the wood and granite!! wow.

Ours all match (well, the kitchen anyway) but it was a total fluke. The dishwasher was already in (stainless) so we went with black and stainless look for everything else, and I just liked the design of the appliances that happened to be the same brand as the dishwasher and in our price range. If there would have been something I liked the look of better and was in our budget, I would have bought it no matter the brand.

Ours match because our builder used the GE Profile line, and I had a discount from the GE site, so I bought a fridge to match.

If we ever build a house again, I''ll probably do the mix and match thing. I helped a friend do his kitchen and I found great ratings for Jenn Air ranges and ovens, so he went with those. I really want a double-wide fridge, though, and I would need to do research into who offers the best pro-level refrigerators.

And ILC, I had NO idea how freakin'' hot merlot appliances would be, but holy cow! I love your kitchen choices. Sorry the maintenance has not been a dream.

Nope, mine are different brands. The stove and dishwasher are the same but the fridge is different. The one thing I would caution you on, though, is that there is variation in the colour of the stainless from one brand to another, so make sure they go together. If they''re across the room from eachother it''s not a big deal but if they''re very close the colour difference might bug you.

Packrat- we were miss-matchy for awhile too. We replaced them one at a time so we had a SS dishwasher, a black and white oven and a white fridge. It didn''t last long... it drove us nuts!
