Do you rinse the soap off your dishes ?

Imagine my shock when I was washing up at someone elses house, was rinsing the dishes after soaping and got stopped. I was shown to start directly drying the soapy dishes. If you're at someone else's house what are you meant to do except observe their ways? It was the weirdest feeling eveeerrr.

I had to board through the week for a whole year when we brought our house (waiting on a work transfer than never eventualated)
Some of the things .....??? Eww yuck

they hated tea towels because they preserved them as unclean
But then they only changed their bathroom towels once a week

i use at least 5 tea towels on a sink load of dishes and change the hanging one in the kitchen several times a day
it would never occur to be to lay it out on the bench to dry between loads

If I hand wash dishes (usually just the crystal and china) I wash each piece with detergent under running water. Then rinse under running hot water in the next sink. I do NOT have a sink full of soapy water that I use to wash dirty dishes.
I cannot stand the idea of a sink full of water for washing that has peas or food chunks floating around in it. Disgusting.

Hmmm did i forget to mention we rinse the dishes first and scrap all the crude / odd peas and corn off

I just have a phobia about any chunks of food in the dishwater. Weird--I know.
So I wash each piece separately because the sink full of dirty water just skeeves me out. I fully acknowledge that I am completely weird about this. And I know the whole wash the glasses first, then plates, then cutlery method. But it just doesn't work for me.

But mostly we use the dishwashers because then I know we aren't passing germs.
To each his/her own.

We scrape dishes before dishwasher but do not rinse them off. I know some people pre-wash before dishwasher. But we do 2-4 loads per day so nothing is ever sitting there very long.

I asked my friend from NZ and she confirmed that she didn’t rinse dishes until spending time in the US. Another lady overhearing the conversation said her husband doesn’t rinse either.

We put eating dishes in the dishwasher but I handwash everything else under running water and then rinse. I always wear gloves as I can’t stand bits of gunk under my nails...and it preserves my manicure. ;)2 The dishes stay in the drainer to dry unless it is crystal or something that requires towel drying.

Phew !
I was getting a little worried
