I''m very late to this thread, but vgirl, you paid $3k for your setting!!! That is a lot of money and you rightly SHOULD expect perfection.

I''m flabbergasted that this happened to you and that it came from a trusted PS vendor. It is not asking too much to expect the left and right side of the band to have the same width!!!

Hope this gets resolved for you soon. I love your ring as it now, and i''ll be more in love with it when the band is fixed

...or do I just have REALLY good vision????
I saw the flaw right away, without having to page down and find the answer. If you paid a lot for it, I would get it fixed. That would drive me bonkers if I paid a great deal for it. I had a similar issue with a platinum scatter band and the jeweler made the whole piece over.
Ditto, I could see the problem right away too.

You are NOT being too picky. Hopefully they will be able to fix it to your liking. Good luck!

I have to be one of the few to admit that I didn''t notice it right away but it might have had to do with the picture. I thought it was the angle of the picture that made it seem like one side was pressed more against your finger. Having seen the other pictures though, I can see what you''re saying now and it seems to stick out like a sore thumb.

I''d like to think of myself as a realist and take into consideration that nothing will be perfect, especially when it comes to very small pieces of jewlery that are examined "under a microscope". BUT, if the ring I bought to propose was this uneven, it would bug the hell out of me. I''d definitely try to get it fixed.

I''m sorry but I wd have to eat my words, lol. You''re going to wear it everyday and if it looks obvious to you, then it''s gotta be obvious...in fact, it IS obvious even to a shortsighted person like me. And once you''ve seen it, it is impossible to UNSEE it.

You are right that while it may be unreasonable to expect 100% identical fishtail pave throughout, it is certainly NOT unreasonable to expect uniformity in the thickness of the shanks on either side of the center stone.

I hope they can get it fixed to your satisfaction. Do post the post-makeover photos...!

From the first moment I looked at the picture I noticed one side of the shank is thinner than the other. It would drive me nuts. I hope you can resolve this quickly!

I''ve heard that too V-girl, the minute anything is handmade the disclaimer is that handmade means that there might be imperfections. I don''t really see it as them saying, hey you''re being too picky or we won''t fix it... just stating a fact. I have a couple of tiny ''unique'' aspects to my setting (my shank was cast from a mold my designer made, but the gallery wires and the halo itself are handmade) and at the start the slight (1/10 of a mm) variation that could only be seen if the ring was upside down (and off my finger) made me twitch. But I reminded myself that I specifically requested that those portions be handmade and KNEW that meant that there was going to be a little tiny bit of uniqueness, and so it went away for me.

But then again, it''s not anywhere I can see it. I don''t think it''s up to any of us to judge whether or not you are being too picky in a sitation like this. If it were something you could only see upside down (

) or with a loop... yeah, I''d think you were being a little obsessive. But the shank width is off on one side, fully visible with the naked eye. It either bugs you or it doesn''t and clearly it bugs you.

While custom work is never 100% perfect, I think that expecting a uniformly thick shank is a reasonable expectation! I hope that they are able to fix it to your satisfaction.

Thanks Geckodani :) I hope so too.
Who made this ring? Which PS vendor?
