Do you wear rings 24 hrs a day?

I only wear them when I go out. Truth is, I don't love wearing rings. Love the look and all, but need my hands to be free of rings when I am home. Washing dishes, cleaning, doing laundry etc...

The only thing I am super careful about when wearing them out, is unloading the grocery cart...

Once I am home off they come, so don't have to worry about them scratching, or the puppy biting at my hands... I put them in the same place, so I never lose them either...

HTH... :))
This is exactly what I do.

Duplicate post.

I mostly just wear them when I leave the house or if I'm just lounging around. I take them off to sleep, bathe, and do anything that would get them dirty.

The only ring I wear all the time is my wedding band. It has little tiny diamonds in it so I don't worry about it too much.

I only wear my other rings when I'm leaving the house for other things than just grocery shopping. Then I wear my ering and either my alexandrite or my 3 stone aquamarine ring.

I take mine off for cleaning, gardening and showering, I wear a ebay eternity band to work and the wedding set the rest of the time. I will bang it on something once in awhile and look at it right away but otherwise I think they are pretty sturdy. I am amazed in these threads how many people take their jewelery off to sleep! Apparently my bedroom is a much tamer place then most :o I can't imagine what could happen to them worse there then say the grocery store or out and about  I guess maybe they could get some lotion or something on them :naughty:
I'm amazed that some DON'T take off their rings to sleep!

My fear is that a prong would get caught in a thread from the sheets or something. Or I'd bang my hand against the headboard at night.
ME too! I am obviously nervous about threads and whatnot, but if I sleep in rings I cannot freaking bend my finger for hours, and often need to ice it for a significant amount of time to aid in that. I can't get rings on for a good 2 hours after I get up, sometimes longer in summer months. I spend time in traffic bending and massaging my joints in the morning (this HAS to be the start of arthritis or something...)

I've worn a ring on my left hand almost every day since I was in third grade. I can't sleep in anything; my fingers swell at night. How I wear my rings depends on how much they cost and who gave them to me.
Danny, the biggest thing you need to do after deciding when to wear yours is designating a place to put it when it's not on and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put it anyplace else. You can train yourself. Find an antique whatever, go get a limoges box, or just use that fabulous Cartier red box and ALWAYS put it in the same place. I know too many people who've lost too many jewelry pieces because they thought Oh, I'll just put it here and then they can't or don't remember where here is and poof! it's gone.
Now that I'm done lecturing you, are you getting used to your ring?

I take my rings off to sleep because I have a habit of sleeping with my hands thrown up above my head and they often hit the wall/headboard in the middle of the night. :errrr:

I have crystal ring holders all over the house (above every sink - laundry, kitchen, bathrooms etc and in the bedroom) so if I am doing stuff around the house and take my rings off, they WITHOUT FAIL go on one of those. Then I always know where to find them again! I take them off usually for only brief periods (showering, swimming, applying sunscreen, some food prep etc) and then put them back on again. My w/ring is 2/3 eternity and my e-ring is half eternity so the main reason I take them off is to avoid the stones becoming dirty, or whenever my hands are getting wet, since both of my rings are large on me.

If I am leaving the house, they come with me ALWAYS (not insured yet  ). If I've taken them off for some reason and inadvertantly go out without them, I turn around and go home to grab them.

If I am doing gardening or other sort of heavy/dirty work away from home (helping parents or something), they go in a ring box in my handbag and come with me. In their place, hubs and I have what we call our "work rings" - plain silver bands that we used to guage our ring sizes before we had our e-ring/wedding rings made. They are beat up to all hell but we both like still wearing *something* on those fingers.

I also have plans to buy a plain band one day, as a "travel ring" if I decide I don't want to take my main set. Then I can wear that the whole trip, without worrying about sunscreen etc gunking up stones, or losing rings. I am not an upgrade type of person so my original set is hugely sentimental to me and I would hate to lose it (even when insured).

I never thought about threads but I do sleep with my arms above my head and when I first wake up will often tap the inside of my ring finger against the headboard (we have a metal bed) in a rythem when I am laying there trying to wake up. I wonder if I bang it on there in my sleep? have to ask dh.

I wear my wedding rings and a RHR daily. I take them off when I cook, do dishes, wash my hands and work anywhere I might hit them on something or get them dirty. I don't sleep with them on.

I wear my plain 14kt wedding band all of the time except for: when I am dealing with raw meat, putting goop in hair or on body.

Other than that I typically switch erings around. I very very very rarely wear my *real* ering. Maybe once a year or so. Too afraid to damage it. (Spinel)

I will wear my 14kt plain gold wedding band pretty much all the time. Fortunately, I don't have the swelling fingers at night issue. :))

The other rings come off when I'm doing chores at home, such as bathing or laundry, or doing sporty things. I used to wear my diamond ring at night, but I stopped that when I read about how rubbing the prongs on sheets can quickly wear them down. I wear a RHR most days when I'm out and about. I'm travelling right now, so I'm not wearing my RHR when I'm pulling luggage. I'll wear one out to dinner, though.

My dh wears his ring during most waking hours, even when cycling. I OTOH only wear my ring when going out of the house but not during any activity like cycling, etc. I never wear it in the house unless we are entertaining for example. This may come across as anti-PS behavior but I don't *love* the feeling of wearing jewelry LOL. :o Don't get me wrong, I love wearing my jewelry but I am most comfortable without any of it on. Especially when the weather gets hot. Shocking, I know.

I take my e ring off the minute I get home. I'm quite clumsy by nature and have already knocked my ring a couple of times when I'm at work (and once practically punched it against a changing room mirror and it now has a tiny chip  ) so I don't want to risk doing any more damage to it when I'm home. Plus I don't want to accidentally scratch our fur babies in the eyes when we're playing with them.

Not sure if I'll wear my wedding band 24/7. On one hand, I feel like I should but on the other hand it's only a 2mm plat pave band so I'm going to have to be real delicate with it (which I already know is not possible with me being such a klutz).

The minute I walk through the door and expect to be home either most of the day or evening, all jewelry comes off and put away.

My attitude is that my jewelry is for wearing and enjoying, and it's insured, so I wear my three 18k gold rings nearly constantly on my left finger. I would probably take them off for doing some things, except my knuckle is larger than my actual finger, so it's uncomfortable to be taking them off and putting them on all the time. I wear gloves when doing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, basically anything with chemicals since I have sensitive skin, so I'm not worried about them then. I don't have pave or a setting I'm worred about, just a plain band, bezel band, and a 4-prong solitaire. I'm sure that I move in my sleep, but I usually fall asleep on my back and often wake up in the exact same position, so I doubt I'd catch a prong on my sheets. I wear them to the gym and into the pool or lake when swimming. And, I have an anxiety disorder, but the only thing I'm concerned about with my jewelry is keeping it clean.

My right hand is pretty naked at the moment, but sometimes I wear a couple of stackers there, though I think my rings are about a quarter size too large and so it feels weird to wear them when they spin around. I need to get a hefty right hand ring that sized correctly.

Nope. I don't wear them to sleep, work out, shower, yard work, pool, or work.

This exactly. I come home, they go off immediately and into their boxes.

I also mostly only wear rings when I leave the house. I'm doing too much around the house to have rings on, and like everyone else I don't want to damage them. I also never sleep with them on.

Yes, every single minute.

I don't worry about anything apart from losing them so I just don't take them off, except to clean.

I don't baby my rings and I expect them to show the wear of a long and happy marriage (god willing) eventually.

ETA my fingers don't swell in my sleep and I've got a wooden headboard that I've banged my rings against many times. Ah well. Life's too short to worry! :sun:

I put my ring on first thing in the a.m., then I take it off at the end of the work day. Sometimes I put it back on in the evening, when I miss it.

I DON'T wear it when I'm poking my hand around in the freezer (that's an easy way to chip or scratch it!), doing dishes, yard stuff, etc. I also don't wear it bathing, swimming, beaching or sleeping.

I suggest you get a simple spindle-type ring holder near the sink, so you can take it off when doing kitchen/freezer stuff.

Also, that fabulous Cartier box is a great sleeping place for it at night. :))

Gold will develop minute scratches over time, so don't panic about it. You can always get it buffed out at a jeweler, but I just think of it as patina and signs of ownership.

Please find a regular spot for it when you're not wearing it, I don't want to have to try and find it for you

My rings come off at bedtime. Or when I clean. Or they don't even go on until I'm dressed to leave the house.

If I had a plain band, I'm not sure I'd be as . . . (you know) . . . about it.

Well...now I seem to have taken your place as the one who is going around bare handed, Danny! I used to wear a plain gold wedding band all the time, but I have now taken it off and I wear nothing all the time. If I want to wear a ring, I put one on for the duration that I want to wear it.

When I did wear a wedding band (for almost 35 years), I wore it all the time. I mean day and night and for all activities. It was a part of me. I never thought about it. I never considered removing it. I had no problems with my fingers swelling at night, although my fingers sometimes swelled for other reasons. (I didn't let that affect whether I kept the band on or not.)

In terms of durability, I had different wedding bands that I used; I didn't always wear my original one. On the other hand, I often wore the same band for many years at a time with no ill effects to it...and this includes one 24K gold band.

I have no discernible pattern for when I do and don't wear my rings (I just wear my wedding set). If I'm at all warm I have a habit of taking my rings off since the rings then annoy me. The other day I accidentally went to an office baby shower ringless when I took them off at my desk and forgot to put them back on. Sometimes I take them off immediately when I get home, sometimes they stay on all night. I definitely don't sleep in them as I often have my hand against my face and the rings bother me.

All of this is for my comfort, not to protect the rings.

I never sleep in my jewelry only a plain thin platinum band that is about 1/4 size larger than my ering and wedders...because my hands swell at night too... It all bothers me when I sleep except the plain band..

I typically don't wear my rings at home...I don't find it comfortable to wear them to do work and I usually take off all hand jewelry and put it either in my jewelry box or in a ring holder. I never wear rings to sleep because I don't find it at all comfortable and the first night I had my e-ring, I whacked my husband in the face and poked his cheek with the prong! I wear either a plain band or some version of my wedding set whenever I go out. I also have a job as a NICU nurse where I am not allowed to wear rings with stones in them due to infection risk, so I only wear a plain titanium band to work.

I wear a plain 2mm band 24/7.
Everything else comes off when I get home.

Wear them to work mostly. I'll wear them at home when no one else is around--love to look at the sparkles!

I don't leave the house without a ring on, but I'm rarely IN the house with my rings on. I wear a plain band more often than anything else, and I do wear my plain band when I'm working out, doing outdoor activity, etc. Jewelry is also the last thing that I put on when I'm getting ready in the morning - I even put on my makeup before putting on jewelry, because I don't like my jewelry getting dirty/gunky. When I get home at the end of the day, my routine is usually to get out of my work clothes immediately and into my comfy clothes, so the jewelry comes off then as well. I never sleep in rings, and when I was very little, my mom told me not to sleep in my necklaces because they could strangle me (!?), so even in adulthood, I can't stand to have something around my neck when I sleep.

My wearing of rings has changed since PS. Before PS I wore my set 24/7, except when I was pg and my fingers swelled so much they didn't fit. At that time I wore my hubby's original band. I am very hard on my hands (and therefore rings) and didn't think much about babying them. I lost a few baguettes from my ER, spent the funds to get them fixed, etc.

AFTER PS: Well, now I pay a lot more attention to my rings! After I found PS, I noticed that my WB (14k yellow gold) had worn down after many years of spinning against my ER. It was just metal on metal, but there's a design on my band and I can notice it. So, I switched that to my left hand and have a scattered band I bought to wear w/my set.

Now I take off my rings if I'm doing something heavy: cleaning, moving, camping, etc. Now that it's summer, I'm wearing my eternity band and my WB...too hot for much else. :D

I pretty much wear my ering 24/7 and it's insured. It's a sturdy strong pronged solitaire ring with no pave. Sometimes I take it off to sleep or shower, but not always. I take it off if I am doing extra grimy house cleaning, cooking or gardening, but put it right back on after I'm done. I have a bad habit of leaving the house without my ring on mornings I did not sleep with it on my finger. I've had to turn around and drive back home a couple of times when in the car I noticed I wasn't wearing it. I play rec sports and I wear it for that too. I love my ring, I hate when I have to take it off and I feel that there was no point to spending all this money for a beautiful ring if I never wear it. However, I clean it every day or two and I don't feel like it gets banged around too much. I did drop my ring on the stone floor in the bathroom one time and I was horrified that it might have cracked, but it was fine.
