How did this happen? When did Amazon go from offering books to loose diamonds? And settings?
1.81 J/VS2 they let you sort in a really spiffy fashion, which I would not mind seeing at a more trusted vendors web page.

I''m not surprised at all.

To buy anything online you must overcome a big hurdle, trust.
To buy a diamond you must overcome the same hurdle.

Name recognition increases trust.
Amazon has huge name recognition.

I can''t say I''m surprised either, but I wouldn''t trust their quality. They would have to show me that they care about the cut of their stones, etc...

I can''t say it surprises me but I personally prefer to go to a vendor whose expertise is in diamonds.

Actually I thought that Amazon sold diamonds through a Diamond.Com or a Blue Nile previously, aka whatever you find on an Amazon search is really a virtual stone from BN or D.Com or similar. Did this change?

By the way that URL doesn''t work so I couldn''t see directly...but I could have sworn it was like this in the past, just like they have things like Macy''s and Nordstrom''s on Amazon (search basically), they had some jewelry e-stores that sold diamonds.

Diamond Search You can buy products through Amazon from other peoples web pages, Sephora, Gucci, Lands End and but these are from the Amazon company and not through Ice.com or any of the other vendors who sell through Amazon.

If you don''t know Amazon started selling books and kept those books stocked but now they sell everything but they are the "middleman" for other companies to use. So you might go to Amazon and think you are buying it from them but most tings your not, your buying from an Amazon "certified" vendor.
I am not surprised at all because they are probably using Blue Nile and others.

I suppose...
"Diamonds purchased from the Amazon.com Collection may be certified by the American Gem Society Laboratories (www.agslab.com), the Gemological Institute of America (www.gia.org), or the International Gemological Institute (www.igiworldwide.com). The type of certificate provided will be noted in the product specifications of your jewelry purchase; if you do not see a certificate type noted, one will not be provided. "
This wording makes it sounds like they are the ones, as do the other links.

I found it interesting that the Amazon search for diamonds is setup like the BN search aka where you can use the slider to include or exclude things like color, pricing etc. Also they have similar wording such as ''basic diamond search'' etc. It just really struck me as the same as the BN one. I wouldn''t be surprised if they are still the middle man and just trying to make it more seamless, possibly as an experiment on the marketplace..aka would someone buy from an Amazon over a BN etc.
