Does anyone have a picture of the Jeff White pad featured in December''s Gem Scoop??

Then if this picture is a bit off, I would recommend that the seller ask Jeff to take some more pictures of it, and some in the sunlight, to give her a better idea of the color. JMO. I know he did this for someone that was on the fence about one of his Ceylon sapphires, not because it wasn't a beautiful stone (it was), but because she was looking for a darker shade of blue.

Considering the price of this stone, I don't think that would be much to ask.

Agreed.

One last thing Diana -

If you are truly interested in this stone, I would strongly urge you to not seek any more opinions on it. I find that PS has a way of coloring ones view, no pun intended.

Indeed, and thanks for making that point-Tgal. In the end, it''s up to the individual to decide whether she likes a stone or not. Taste in color can be as subjective as the use of the term "padparadscha."

Sorry TL, but in the photos you attached I see a pink sapphire on the left and a pad with substantial brown undertones on the right. The pink is definitely vivid, but I wouldn''t call the one on the right vivid. Maybe it''s just a difference in perception, but it looks quite dull to me. And yes, pads are supposed to be delicate in coloration, by definition. Many experts do not consider the darker, more vivid African stones Padparadschas at all, due to the saturation.

I will defend Widget''s Pad: It is one of the most gorgeous Pads I have ever seen. Pads can change colors in different lighting, some of mine do. In bathroom or kitchen lighting, mine turn pink, outdoors they are more orange. Daylight, sunrise, sunset they are gorgeous. So again, you can''t judge a pad by pictures alone.

Widget also posted pictures where her Pad was more orange.

I think we should take care when posting other member's jewelry--this board can be very critical, and it would be helpful if we did not criticize pieces already owned by members.

Discussing color is important, but perhaps we could choose more anonymous examples--just in case.

Coati,
That's my fault for posting Widget's pad. Unfortunatley, I do post it quite often because it's very difficult for me to find a visual example on the net or anywhere with such rich color. As everyone attests to, it's very difficult discerning pad color from a photograph, but I do think Widget's pad is a fine pictorial example. I also have posted ArtNouveau's pad quite often as well, and perhaps I shouldn't. It is very difficult to find anonymous fine pictures of padparadscha's on the net, unless someone else can post one.

I''ll try to find some pics. I know you were using it as an example of fine color--we just can''t control what others might say, and I''d hate for anyone''s feelings to get hurt--that''s all.
