So I am looking into buying an ultrasonic cleaner but before I do, I wanted to hear from the experts?
Is it safe to use it daily or how often is it recommended to use it? What types of stones or settings should not be placed in it?
Thanks

In addition, certain stones should not be put in an ultrasonic...pearls, opals, emeralds, and there are others. I would ask before putting anything other than diamonds and sapphires in one.

I love mine and use it at least once a week. I do not put pave or anything but diamonds and sapphires in it. I use hot water, one drop of dish soap and a few squirts if windex (a recipe I learned here) and it cleans very well!

ditto, but I put my rubies in it too

Thanks for the tips

I have one. Was getting fed up of endless trips to the jeweller to have my full eternity cleaned! It has a closed setting & looks like a cage on the inside, so traps dirt, grease, hand lotion etc. Anyway, I love my Ultrasonic. It does exactly what the jeweller can do with his. I use it twice a week or after anything particularly dirty or greasy, as I adore my rings & love to wear them all the time. I have (touch wood) never had any issues with any of my diamonds or my pink sapphire RHR.

To piggy-back on Roseblooms cleaning mix, which works very well. Since some folks are concerned w/ ammonia, & some Windex solutions have ammonia, I've read here on PS that Simple Green can be a good alternative to consider.

I have this one (or one very similar): http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-CD-2800-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Cleaner/dp/B001DKDAVW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1356618461&sr=8-3&keywords=ultrasonic+cleaner

I usually put very hot water and a couple drops of dish detergent into it before dropping in my glasses and jewelry. It works wonders on getting gunk out of weird places. My only beef is that the basket has very large holes, so I have to be very careful when removing items. I have some pieces with smaller diamonds, but no teeny tiny pave that I am concerned about loosing.

I'm just a big ol' chicken! I know UCs work well, but I'm so nervous about my eternity stones. I don't have any pave, but I just can't get comfortable w/ UCs. So I use my 2-phase soaking method almost every night, which includes gently using a super soft electronic toothbrush (learned on PS). Then appx once a month I use my pressure steam cleaner.
