Does anyone recognize this cut?

Just saw a cool (and tiny) round-shaped diamond online that looks kind of star-shaped under the table. It doesn't look like any of the "lone star cut" diamonds I've seen. Any idea who cuts these?

It might be one of these two: Count the facets to know if either one is possible. There might be others.

Biro88

designed and branded the Biro88™ in 2004. The Biro88™ has 88 facets designed to maximize light reflection through the round stone's crown and table. Each of these branded diamonds is laser inscribed with the Biro88™ logo and Biro serial number.

Brilliant Star

the Brilliant Star Diamond Collection has four patented diamond cuts - Wishing Star, Angel Star, Sun Star, and Hearts & Star - introduced in 2005. All based on "the starlight faceting effect" that utilizes the direction of the light reflecting off of the facets to create unique star patterns that shine through the diamonds. The Wishing Star is a round, 74 faceted diamond with a 6 pointed star at its heart. The Angel Star is a pentagon, 57 faceted diamond with a 5 pointed star in the center. The Sun Star is a 97 faceted round, with an 8 pointed star resembling the sun, and Hearts & Star is a round 81 faceted diamond displaying a 5 pointed star, surrounded by 5 hearts.

Thank you for taking a look Oldminer!

I looked at the cuts you mentioned and they didn't quite match up, so I did a whole bunch of googling.

If anyone's interested, it turns out that it's a "Wish upon a star diamond", a 10 main round brilliant proprietary cut from festaria bijou SOPHIA in Japan.
Nifty!

(And here's their OTT marketing video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeg54TvcyJA)

I'd love to see what it looks like under an IS and an ASET (probably not great?).

Hopedream, thanks for starting this thread. It's kind of interesting to see the variety of cuts that are out there. This one is quite unique! :appl:

This is adorable and I love it! Did you purchase it from the Japanese website? I really want to get my hands on one!

Hi SeeingSunshine,
I purchased mine second-hand (I have quite a small bling budget), It was unmarked and the novel cut really stood out.

I really love it!
It's fairly small - about 8mm across the width of the halo, but a really nice size for a nice bit of bling. It has a really nifty slider that changes the length of the chain, so it can be worn at a variety of heights, also the halo is a separate unit from the center stone, so it can be worn in several different combinations of looks.(I should really make a SMTB post!)

Unfortunately Festaria doesn't have an online store as far as I can tell.

You could keep an eye on Rakuten Global Market http://global.rakuten.com/en/?l-id=gs_global_search_logo Search term: festaria (I checked, and there's nothing there today (Dec.20,2015). Maybe in January?

There's also foreign shopping service Buyee (http://buyee.jp/) that could be helpful.

As for shipping, I've had good success with Tenso (http://www.tenso.com/en/) as an international package forwarding service - great for international connection with vendors that will only ship goods within Japan. Japan has very strict laws about what is allowed to be shipped out of the country including restrictions on jewellery, so please become familiar with them before you do any purchasing.

If you could visit Japan, or had a friend in Japan that could actually visit a Fetaria Bijou Sophia, that might be the best. Do we have any Japanese PSers? I'm not sure!

Good luck I hope you are able to find one. If I see another, I'll let you know!

Thank you for the reply! You should definitely make a SMTB post on it! It is such an interesting cut and I am kind of obsessing over it right now!

I will definitely take a look at all of those options. I actually know quite a few people in Japan (I minored in Japanese) and I will have to check to see if anyone is familiar with the store. I love visiting Japan and I wish I could fly back to get it myself, but that's not in the cards for a while! Actually, I really wish I could get my hands on a loose stone in this cut and do a custom project, but I guess we will wait and see what the future holds!

Thank you again for all the info!!
