Does anyone wear just one ring?

For the most part I wear my heart ring on my left hand as a combined engagement ring/band. This is because I don’t want a band to rub against the edges of the hearts or undercarriage and wear them down.

Does anyone else wear just one ring on your left ring finger and if so would you mind sharing a picture? Kind of wondering if I’m the odd duck!

I was actually thinking this the other day. I usually only wear one ring on my ring finger as well. My fingers swell and it's short and stubby - doesn't do well with stacking. I am getting a new ring made and was thinking of using the diamonds to make a cluster style one ring instead of an "engagement" and a "wedding" band.

All the women on both sides of my family wear a single wedding/engagement ring. I didn’t realize until I was a teenager that some people wear two rings, and I didn’t realize until my friends started getting married in my late 20s that it was considered the norm to have an engagement ring and then add a wedding band. My dad married for the second time at 60 and was surprised to learn about the two-ring custom from his now wife!

The engagement ring I had been wearing was used during my wedding ceremony, and I wore it alone for a decade before my husband gave me an anniversary/milestone ring that I now stack with it.

Yes, me! I wear my solitaire engagement ring on my left hand. In my view, my diamond is a show stopper and it doesn't need any embellishment, so I like to wear it alone.

Eventually I'd like to buy an emerald cut band for my right hand that will serve as both a wedding ring and a RHR. I've had wedding bands over the years that haven't really suited me, so I just don't wear one now.

I do now that I have my unmentionable. It has a donut and I don't do curved bands so I'm just wearing it by itself now lol. If when I have the head replaced and the baguettes more comfortably reset I can have it to where I can wear a straight band with no gap I will. But for however long that takes I will mostly be wearing it alone except on fun stack days lol.

@maryjane04, I hear you about the swelling, I have the same problem. A cluster ring is a great idea, a lot of visual bang for the buck!

@123ducklings, it’s so interesting how different cultures have different approaches to the engagement ring/wedding band. Your poor dad though, he was thinking one ring would do it and then he had to buy two!

@Dancing Fire, really, how could you need anything else on that finger with that amazing ring!

@RunningwithScissors, oh and emerald cut RHR would be so elegant and timeless. I think it’s great you wear your solitaire alone and you prefer it that way. I have seen it in other threads and it is spectacular

I wear only my plain solitaire ring most of the time, only stack with another thin channel-set half eternity occasionally. I don’t feel exactly comfortable with stacking, really admire people who can stack multiple! I dislike the wetness between the rings each time I wash my hands (thanks to OCD). With just one ring, i can dry it easily w/o removing :)

I guess I’m old school in that I feel naked without a wedding band. Rarely do I wear only one ring on that finger as I sadly do not find rhr’s comfy and I hate to not wear my faves all the time. But you do you!!

@MeowMeow, oh have you shared your unmentionable on PS? Maybe I will go see if I can find it!

@elizat, I get that, I definitely know when I have multiple rings on a finger. Two isn’t bad but more than that...nope!

@lucida818, I had a previous matched wedding set that would trap water, drove me crazy. I would much rather have one ring that that feeling.

@Slick1, it definitely took some getting used to not to wear a band, I do on occasion wear the sapphire band I have with it. You have a gorgeous collection so I would wear as many on one finger as I could too!

HI:

Yes. A wedding band, if that.

cheers--Sharon

@canuk-gal, especially this year, I think a lot of people aren’t even wearing a band with all the hand washing!

I have! It's over in Fashion Jewellery :)

Me currently... my ring looks funny with my band so I just wear one or the other. I was looking for a thin French cut band hoping it would work but haven’t found one yet in my budget and in yellow gold.

It really bums me out cause the band makes you look married imo. So does the husband - but that guy is always working and isn’t ever around.

I've always worn one ring. No matter how well the rings fit together, unless they are soldered they will damage each other over time and psychologically that bothers me. I also prefer large rings with a small finger and there is no place to put a band. I do have a band, but I wear it by itself when I don't want to wear the diamond ring.

I only wear one ring on each hand.

On my right, it will be the small or large EC depending on the occasion.

On my left, it will be on the ring finger or the middle finger, depending on the occasion and the ring I choose for the outfit.

I have no ER to speak of nowadays.

When I did have an ER and a wedding band to wear, I would switch them out for one of my bigger rings for dressier events.

DK :))

This is absolutely stunning, by the way. It makes complete sense to wear it alone!

One ring per hand here! I was married with the eternity ring (an elopement) and the solitaire is a 40th birthday present to myself with a diamond I found in a pawn shop! A0D2B496-F22A-4BAC-8FC5-6B031F6594B3.jpeg

When my fingers are swollen I’ll only wear one ring on my left ring finger.

Heck I even wore it like this (in the house)

I’m nothing if not determined. :)

Yes, I prefer it that way. Whenever I stack, I get too nervous about the rubbing and possible damage to each of the rings. I like the metal on my rings shiny and pristine without any scratches. So I tried wearing the band on one hand and e-ring on the other and liked it that way. These days I’m all about a simple platinum band. It’s classic and easy, and the platinum stands up to the tons of strong hand sanitizer I use.

@MeowMeow, I found it! Beautiful, I actually “liked” it when you first posted =)2

@winnietucker, love a French cut band but yes they are on the expensive side. It bothered me at first not wearing a band but eh, we’ve been together a long time, nobody is trying to hit me up at home so :lol-2:

@Polyhex, wow beautiful ring! So you get it, with no band there is less wear and tear on your ring, I thought soldering would eliminate that risk but maybe not.

@dk168, I love an emerald cut ring, classic and timeless. My appraiser wears an east west emerald cut and I always admire it.

@RosieR, wow, love a pawn shop find, that ring is fabulous, I love how both rings and your tennis bracelet look so cohesive!

@Diamond Girl 21, wow both of those rings are amazing, love “all in one” rings like this but I would have to wear one on each hand because I wouldn’t be able to pick a favorite!

@missy your Cartier opal is like a staple of PS, so beautiful and certainly can stand on its own as can all of your rings!

@Laila619, yes to all this, I was really wondering for a while if I was a total jewelry freak it not stacking, appears not though ;)2

@motownmama, I love seeing your stacking in SOTD, so pretty! I do love looking at other people’s stacks but my current rings just don’t play well with others.

Ooooh @missy what is that delicious looking chunk in the second picture (double pronged solitaire) is there a thread? I’d love to know more about it :kiss2:

Gorgeous set! Tell us about the bracelet!

Gorgeous set! Tell us about the bracelet!

It’s from good old ID Jewelry! 5.6+ carats of F/G colour SI eye clean (pricescope quality) stones set in 14k white gold in a Benjamin co. Setting, which was customised to 6.5 inches long. I copied LLJ’s mom as she has the same setting. I adore it and it goes well with the eternity that ID jewellery also made.
