Hi all!!! I decided to take the plunge into colored stones, and purchased this band for a song (the seller actually accepted less than 1/2 the asking price) but now that its mine, im getting a bit worried. What does everyone think, and are they cuts princess, or ? I was hoping for french cuts, as i purchased it to stack with my CVB french cut diamond band, but its ok if they arent. Also, it looks to be in good shape (seller says its perfect) do you guys see anything I am missing?

What a pretty band! I love how delicate the channel is and in Platinum. Think those are square cuts, I believe princess is just for diamonds. Another possible name is caliber cut. Very similar to my eternities. The diamond band is a pseudo French cut, the tops are French cut and you can sort of make out the difference in table pattern. I also included (worlds worst) photo of a loose FC which I think shows how the table is totally different from a square or calibre.

All that said, I have no issue mixing this style of cut with FCs or anything else. They seem to pair really elegantly.

Thank you for your reply! Good to know i can mix up the cuts. It does seem from the photo that the tops (crown) of the sapphires are not completely flat, they actually look fairly similar to your ruby band. Are those caliber cuts?
Your bands are all gorgeous btw!! :kiss2:

@meesmom they both are is my guess, the ruby is much older and tad more knocked about than the sapphire. It is also wider by a hair. The sapphire was my " I wonder what that mark says, oh hey its a Tiffany" band that I got for a song. Both have big tables and sloped sides but the sapphires are less pronounced and harder to see.

I love channel set bands cause they are a ribbon of color and I have yet to find something I can't pair them with.

I think i have to get a ruby one, too, I love it!! So, do you mean you purchased the sapphire one, and found out after you recieved it that it was tiffany?
I love stories like this. I actually have been toying with the idea of starting a thread about incredible second hand deals PS'ers have found. It would be like a PS version of Antiques Roadshow... :)

Yep. A local store was going out of business and they did a lot of resale (which I didn't know at the time). There was this pretty sapphire eternity and I thought what the heck if it is my size ill try it. He handed it to me and it fit so I asked the price expecting $700-$800 if I was lucky. It was under 3. I said sold without a second thought. He offered to clean it and said btw it is platinum. I get home, days later actually, and try to see where it says platinum and thought there looked like a lot of writing, which had me concerned. Finally found a loupe and about feel over when I read "TIFFANY&CO" I don't think he would have let it go that cheap had he noticed that.
